im just wondering what the small holes in the block and the head are? the ones in between the cylinders? theres 2 for each cylinder. Ive attached a photo. the yellow arrows are the holes that are open and all the holes that the red arrows point too are blocked?

im not sure wat kind of pump it is running. definately not standard though. i bought it off a mate who had it on his patrol for a while. he bought it off his mate who made the pump.

ok... so i fitted brand new au fans with shroud. im still having drama's with it getting a bit hot. is anyone else running these fans with a high mount winch. im guessing that because of the lack of airflow from the winch being in the way, it may be causing some drama's.

usually with the TD 4.2 alternators it's easier to just buy a new one. i had trouble with mine and it was gunna be more of an effort to fix so i got a new one. at least you know it's new and if the problem is still there then you've cancelled out the alt as one of the problems

give all the terminals a clean in the control box. could just be a build up of dirt causing it to not get full power.

could also be dodgy solanoids but it's a bit weird for both of them to die at the same time.

i have problems with airflow cause i am running a warn hign mount with a cheezy bar. also have 2 x 240 blitzs lights on the bar. so that is causing problems with airflow but there is nothing i can do about that.

the car is not over heating. just gets a bit warm wen the aircon is running on a hot day and wen 4wdriving with the aircon on.

check your pitman arm is all tight. had trouble with mine a while back. had just worked itself loose

I have removed the engine fan and fitted 2 x 16" thermo's to the back of the radiator running off a thermo switch. they cover a fair part of the radiator but currently have no shroud. it's not really cooling that well while driving.

i thought 2 fans would work a lot better than one engine fan but ...

got a mate with a GU and he is wanting to change the auto locking hubs for manual locking one's. i have a GQ front diff so we are thinking of just fitting the GQ one's. do they just fit straight on or does the whole swivel hub etc have to be changed???

it's had a new paint job and im guessing who ever painted it either bogged over it or got rid of it for some reason. is it anywhere else on the car or is that the only place it could be?

i've been told it's near the front passenger side top shock mount but i can't find it.

best way is to get them sandblasted, then either get them powder coated or paint them yourself. if it was me i'd get them blasted then paint them. did mine a while ago. came up looking brand new.

thanks for all the info. i think i've decided to go with a top mount setup. just needs a bit of modding like airbox, bonnet scoop running of pipes etc. still a lot more research to do though but im a lot more informed now

yeah i see wat you mean about the intake. i do have a body lift but the engine bay is pretty crowded already. i am running a low mount turbo so i have a bit more room to play with.

I'll have to do a measure up of everything and see how i go.

my plan is to get the universal front mount cooler and mount it as a top mount. is this an option? i was planning to get a big bonnet scoop to get the air in and have a small thermo fan with shrouds etc.

i have a 91 model GQ with turbo TD42. it is currently running a bigger injector pump and axt turbo running 18 psi. It's got about 180hp. im looking at putting an intercooler on but have no idea about them.

Ive been looking at some universal intercooler's on ebay.
