Re: 100 series 4.5 petrol fuel use

My 105 manual gives me 18L/100km on the highway and 20 around town.
Best ever was 17.5L/100. That was cruising at 100kph. Worst was about 25 but that was really stomping it.

Thirsty buggers but have good power and a much lower price than the diesels.

I have only ever seen xtrails stopped on the beach................ to let the 4wd overheating warning to reset. I used to own a 2004 5 door grand vitarra. Awsome fun to drive. 2.5L V6 had a heap of power and was light enough to be a hoot in the sand. We still own a 2008 GV and it too is a heap of fu...

He is not going to go very far away with it but wants to get to a few harder to reach places.

I did suggest a zook but he drove my GV and found that a little small for his liking.

The 84 Paj is IFS with solid rear axle.

Advice for my bro?

My brother in-law is looking at getting a 4wd. He is into trekking and canyoning and wants to get to some more remote places. He could spend upto 20k but would need to sell his new(ish) and reliable daily driver. He has test driven the 4.2 TD patrol and a 4.0 Prado. He found the patrol too large and...

Sweet GV man! Are you really ripping off the tie downs/recovery points? This has me worried... the owners manual states that they can be used for recovery and i don't want to send one flying at snatch speeds! BTW, tidy up that rear recovery bar and you could sell em. Looks like it works and you can ...

If you are taking the wife and child along then you will need the 4door. Yes, the 2.5 has a lot more grunt than the 2.0. I would suggest the 2.5 if you are towing. The GV handles very well on the beach. The only problems i've had with mine have been in places where many tracks meet and teh sand is c...

It really comes down to what you want out of the vehicle. I got a 2008 GV for the Mrs and we both love it. I hadn't had a 4wd for a few years (after owning a pootrol and a surf in the past) and the GV got me excited about 4wding again. In fact i liked it so much i swapped my car for a 2004 GV. The d...

Guys, nice pics. Can you post up the details of your GVs, ie, what kind of lift (please specify springs, spacers, shocks) and tyres, brand and size.

Thanks heaps.

Either upload a very very small file. Or point the [img] tags at a another site where you have already uploaded the pics (like flickr.com).

The more the merrier eh!

Have a look at http://www.marks4wd.com/products/tyre_m ... ction.html

They mention the suzi jimni and i'd guess the GV uses a similar speedo. Give them a call. Let us know how you get on.

I can see a number of solutions to the speedo issue. Get a garmin or tomtom gps and use that. Calculate the speedo difference and pop some stickers on your dash. Follow a friend and record what speeds your speedo says and remember it/use stickers. There probably is such a device as a speed correctio...

So... if you get more droop, do you lose compression?
If you get extra droop (down travel) and still the same compression(up travel) isn't that more travel.

And, please don't yell at me. ;) I own a GV and plan on lifting it.

It's friday dudes! Only 6hrs till beer o'clock. Chill.

It's almost laughable compared to the hardcore sierras you see in this forum but it.... to each their own. You gotta start somewhere.

Thanks Tim. Your GV is lookin good! Thanks heaps for those pics. Much appreciated. How do you think it would go with 235/70 instead of 225/75. I probably won't need to bend the tab then but i worry about the width. I think (from all the pics i have seen) that the front will be fine. I just worry abo...

With the lift kite did you need camber bolts or prop spacer too?

GV lift/tyre questions.

Hi guys, I'll post this here as i seem to have finally found a 4wd forum that has heaps of activity. I recently picked up a 2004 2.5 manual GV. I wish to mod it a bit but nothing hardcore. I will use it as a daily driver and lots on the beach. Also there will be a some trips to the watagans (muddy f...

I just used MTA a few weeks ago. http://www.mtavehicleinspections.com.au/ EXPENSIVE! but was worth it for me. They carry a computer or PDA (or something) and put the results of the report strait into it. When they are finished they upload it and you get an emailed report. In my case i had the report...
