My 78 troopy is the same, have to wait between gears to get a smooth change and can't race the box which is not ideal when pulling a load or heading up a steep hill.
I would be interested to see if you found a fix for it, I thought it may have been a very heavy flywheel and didn't think of the ...

MY 7x10's where in the front doors with no spacers other than what was supplied with the speakers. I soon swamped them and became bored with a two speaker stereo.

I covered the previous 7x10 hole with some mdf covered in black speaker carpet and fitted some 6x9's, then I made some spacers for the ...

As joel said, Carby clean is fine. Or a carbon/throttle body cleaner. You shouldn't need to 'soak it' and it would probably be a good idea not to 'soak' the eletrics. All you need to do is clean the hot wire in the ...

I also noticed that the near new air filter was filled with sand. I guess the snokel must be right in the line of fire unlike my lux....


I will replace it though the week, if memory serves me the 17ltr per hundred was just after I put this filter in.

I put a whole can of carby cleaner through it today until the writing was off the stickers and the rubber seal went soft. I put it back in with some silastic just incase air has been aso getting past the seal.

Can I soak it in carby clean without damaging it? The type that comes in a normal tin(not a spray).

My AFM needs a good clean, contact cleaner didn't do the job and I know of someone who took their prado to a toyota dealership who apparently soaked his AFM which brought it back to spec increasing power which by all means should bring economy back.


So what to "soak" the AFM in is the question ...

Maybe stuff a bit of foam back there until they're bigger and dont need the booster seat? Not big enough to obstruct your vision of course but enough to protect their heads from hittin the glass.

That was my next suggestion failing any model having head rests, a couple of pieces of foam a couple ...

Stupid question but you're not a smoker are you? With that many klms a week a smoker could really go Cheech and Chong on the windscreen.

I think supercharging would cost a heap for a new, reliable and properly set-up system. I wouldn't turbo a petrol 4B that I wanted for reliabilty but maybe that is just me.

I have a 3.4 auto prado and wouldn't even bother towing large loads for any reasonable distance. Maybe it's time to sell both ...

My hilux= 12 front and 8 rear

My prado= 15 all round and feels like it should go lower but the tyres don't look like they will bag further safely so I leave it there and deal with the chees cutters it has.

Haven't read the thread but my opinion is auto's kick arse in the bush, I would have disagreed before I actually drove one. They seem to soak up the bumps and ledges a little and keep traction, it is also one less thing to worry about.

My prado is auto and I love it in the bush, will have the hilux ...

Good to hear you are happy with the install, installers can be dodgey but whatyou don't see won't break your heart. I had the proffesionals do the head unit into my prado's std speakers with no amp or anything over the top and am very happy.

Now if the bolt had snapped but the key is found in the timing case with surface rust on it and no other marks. Plus the crank is nice and clean but the pulley is chewed out badly, vehicle pulled over as soon as noise was detected, hasn't been neglected or anything...

If you had a snapped crank pulley bolt would it be acceptable to heat the front of the crank with an oxy to the point where it cooled down coloured blue while inside the engine and vehicle(looks like it was cooled quickly with water)?

To add to this, would you even contemplate doing this before ...
