Re: GU Patrol Vs 80's Cruiser?

after upgrading from a gq to a gu i wouldn't go back to a gq, the gu is so much quieter and more comfortable. my gu was a 4.5 auto (now a ls1  ) don't expect great economy, but i doubt you pajero would be doing much better, i towed a car trailer on a regular basis and never had a drama the ...

i would totally agree the ecotec would be too underpowered for a patrol, you could do a ls1 for the same dollars and would have a lot better power.

Re: what are the lift laws in qld??

My brother IL just bought an immacculate 100 ser (with all the accessories you can think of) from Vic and got it trucked up. It's got 5 inch coil and 34ish size rubber. Very nice car. Anyway, he took it to Rocky for the roadie (gas inspection), passed without a hitch (except had to put the third ...

Re: best money saver 3lit Petrol GQ

i did the turbo gas thing and was getting 30l per 100km, i did the efi before that and that made the economy worse, but it made it a lot better offroad. if i had my time again i would have either left it stock and put up with the lack of power or what i ended up doing in the end rip it out and fit a ...

Re: Patrol Auto or T700

i'm running the 4l60e with internals upgraded to 4l65 and haven't had any issues, much easier conversion as the engine and auto are all matched up and you have no issues controling the auto, i have heard of a lot of nightmares trying to get factory auto's trying to talk to transplanted motors. if ...

they are expensive in terms of how much gas you get, about $30 each, compared to about $70 for the boc refill, but the $150 a year rent is a killer with the boc bottles, if your only doing small welds, the disposibles would be cheaper, but if your doing big projects i wouldn't bother.

do you mean the cup that the bearing runs in, they come with the bearing kit or do you mean the spacer that goes on the outside of the bearings, if its the spacer it would be genuine or someone may have one lying around out of a wreck.

it sounds like overload, but the fact that the bulbs draw a lot less then 1 amp, i doubt that it would be the case. check that the wires haven't been pinched under the light fitting. a trick to finding a short is to remove the fuse and but a headlight bulb in its place (solder a couple of wires to ...

what economy are you fellas with the ls1/2's getting with your setup's? Aza 6-6.5 km/l compared to about 3.5-4km/l for the 4.5 i would say closer to 3 times the power from a stock motor with a lot more potential with a tune or blower  thats for auto. the best bit is you can load them up or ...

grinch, you spent in excess of $10,000 on the RB30?? Standard RB30 high comps are 9.0-1 Standard VL turbo donks are 7.8-1 Just thought i'd add that as i've seen prople posting 9.5-1 for high comp and 7.5-1 for low turbo. I've since been reading the manual. RB25 should lower the comp yeah, but that ...

you will need to find a patrol sump as the car ones are different. honestly if your going to go to the expense and effort of a engine swap, go something bigger, idealy an ls1. i had i rb30, i blew that much money on turbos, aftermarket ecu's, gas research, intercoolers, and in the end it was still a ...
