Hello Guys, I am looking at the Jeeps, they seem pretty reasonable in price. I am looking at getting an auto one(so the missus can drive it aswell), but don't know which one is better than other models. Can you shed some light on the subject please.
Cheers

Re: Lifting a JK with US arm and spring kits

Hi guys,
Got a JK 4 door CRD coming at the end of the month, and wanted to see what I can get away with legally.......

Does anyone know if the replacement arm 3"lifts are legal in Aus? Like Teraflex or Full Traction?
Are they legal post engineer report, or just not legal at all?

And while I'm ...

It will depend on your budget.

As patzuki mentioned, the 140 would look a bit strange on the ARB bar.

Mr Rocky.

Before I purchased the JK Ruicon, I had a Suzuki Grand Vitara.
I went for a 2 Door JK as the unlimted (4 door) versions were to big for what I wanted.

The Rubicon has rock crawling gears standard and diff locks F/R.
My JK is fairly stock, but It will go more places the GV will go.

Just to add my 2 cents worth.
When I had my 1999 V6 GV. It had the OME 40 - 50mm suspension lift with 225/75 R16 MTR's (29").

I also changed the Diff's centre ratio's to correct the speedo reading. I supposed it was raised 2" taller than stock.

The 3" lift from calmini is for the Vitara Estate the ...

Crazynic.

I have always had a V6 Grand Vitara in a manual.
99% of the time, there would be no issues with it.

However, I wished I had an Auto when negotiating steep hill climbs as there is no clutch to worry about.

Going down hill is a different story.

When I had my 1999 V6 Grand, it to had the rattle at start up.
Yes it was the valve tappets. It only lasted for a few seconds or so while the oil was pumped to the top of the engine.

From what I have heard, this is normal for the V6 GV's. Sometimes, I pumped the ...

G'day.

Have a look at http://www.redbook.com.au for the car specifications.

It Looks like the MY2005 models and above came with a 6 speed manual.
The autos are 4 speed.

Autos are definitely better for steep uphill climbs as you do not need to rely on the clutch etc.

However, manuals do tend to ...

Do Wrangler's really catch fire????

G'day.

There are a number of posts on the Jeep forums regarding Jeeps catch fire.
Is this true?

What models in the Jeep range do this.
i.e Wrangler TJ, JK etc

I have heard the automatic gear boxes leak oil an therefore can catch fire.
What is there to look out for?
What causes them to catch fire ...

Probably would not be legal in Australia. But looks good.
The only thing I have to say is how do you see out of your rear vision mirror?

The spare tire takes up most of the rear window.

Mickey Thomson make a 285/70R17 MTZ (33" equivalent).

Will these rub with the standard susspension?
At a later stage, I will upgrade the sussepension i.e ARB, Ranco etc.

Do the 275/70 R17 rub at all in full lock etc.
They are 32.15 (275/70R17) rather than 32.05" (255/75R17).

As they are around the same size, I am assuming that the speedo would not be that far out.

Who makes that size of tyre in the 17" rim?

What Mud Terrain tyres do people use on their JK Rubicon

The JK Rubicon comes with 255/75 R17 All Terrain tyres. The brochure says they are Off Road but they wil turn to slicks in mud.

Apart from BFG what other makes of tyres are available in that size?

265/70 R17 (similar size to 255/75R75) seem to be a better option and more makes seem to be on offer ...

Rainbow Warrior.
I am now seriously thinking of buying a JK Rubicon.. As this will be my daily driver, what are these like on road ?

I will be also taking these off road (rocks, mud etc).
It will not be a Toorak Tractor... I will use it as it has been designed.
