Re: GU VS 80 or 100
In either case a good couple of thousand of the buy price should be put aside for a major checkover and possible repairs if necessary as most GQ/80's these days require things like swivelhub rebuilds, diff seals, clutches, full drivetrain service etc... Good advice! I'd buy an 80 and spend some ...

Re: good tracks
When you say good tracks do you mean touring or hardcore. A little bit of both. Not to extrem, my 60s is more or less standard. But was good enough for the old telegraph a couple of weeks ago  I just don't like to travel on the main highway. Want to see nice things and have some fun 4WD tracks ...

Brisbane to Sydney - some ideas for the trip?
After I got so many help and good ideas out of this forum, I bet you also could give me some nice hints for the trip from Brisbane to Sydney. I'd like to spend about a week between the cities. Where are some good 4WD-tracks? Wouldn't mind to leave the coast. Just some interesting Australia-insider ...

Thank you for all the information. We decided to drive from Townsville inland and that was a good idea. First we went to Lake Dalrymple and the Burdekin Dam Falls. That's a cool spot for camping, fishing and the sunset. The dam falls are pretty interesting. Have never seen something that big before ...

QLD - need advise, tips, ideas!
Till now I had an amazing time in Australia. Started in Brisbane I travelled through Victoria'S High Country, Great Ocean Road, Oodnadatta Track, part of the Simpson desert, Savannah Way and Cape York (OTT) - just to name a few  I'm on the east coast and looking for new adventures. But the way ...

Just had a quick look. Mackay is about 700km away. As I'm driving already a couple of days without rear breaks, I think I don't want to risk more. But thank you! Would it be an option to buy the parts and if nobody can help me, go with the parts to a mechanic? Would that be cheaper? Or would he kick ...

Cairns - held for rear breaks [HJ60]
Hey guys, I'm a German traveller in a Landcruiser HJ60. My rear breaks are just shit and not working anymore. The Old Telegraph Track was a little bit to much for them :-) I need new break shoes and one new break cylinder in my rear breaks. Anyone in Cairns (or around) who can change them for me ...

Update: I didn't like to be stuck here and went to another mechanic outside the city. With all the knowledge I had (because of you), I explained the problem and what I want to be done. They repaired the Diff. he pinion bearing was spinning in the housing and they also showed me all the parts. Some ...

I'm in Katherine. Sorry trains, I'm not really able to describe the movement. But 2-3mm could be it. I could I was able to turn it about one third turn. The noise I hear now hasn't been there before. With my last travel mate we often drove without radio and I never heard it on the way to Darwin. It ...

But I'm to afraid to change that one myself. Maybe there is someone who can give me a helping hand. I like to learn ...

HJ60 warning lights after water crossing
Hi. I crossed today Cahills Crossing in the Kakadu Park. I did a lot of water crossings before but always with water only to the side steps. This time it was a little higher (but I have a snorkel). In the middle of the river some warning lights flashed up. The batterie light, the orange light next ...
