As the heading suggests, my 75 series has slowly (over time - 12 months) developed a clear and, now very noticeable, whine from what appears to be the rear end of the ute.

I'm posting this topic with the hope that, once again, the wealth of knowledge shared by the members on this forum ...

Is it possible to fit a turn over spring clutch pedal (found in the 78 series, 79 series, 100 series etc.) into the 1HZ powered 75 Series Land Cruiser?

funny enough i put the post up because a mate and myself picked up 2 identical 75 series from WA, and he is the one that was was actually looking to get a stainless bar front and back to carry his canoes and get rid of his factory tray (like mine).

Show us a picture of your 75 series Cruiser Tray - Stock or not doesnt matter - just looking for ideas, just bought a 97 model with 39K on the clock and im not sure whether i like the tray or not....

No they're in the right way - fat end to the front to allow the flange to rotate up to the transfer.

The problem is no longer castor. its the double cardin on the transfer case end of the shaft. thanks though.

5 :shock: I found 3 in the dark and the 4th on the slip joint, completely missed the one in the center pivot. I hadnt even touched the one on the slip joint with the grease gun and i could see something was wrong. so i turned it slightly (with my fingers) and it sheared clean ...

Actually didnt get the chance to take it for a drive without the front shaft last night :cry: so i havent found out whether its the diff or the shaft.

I had a pair of custom driveshafts knocked up with 12 inch slip and a new double cardin joint on the transfer end of the front shaft.

Not sure what the new double cardin is like (compared to IFS) i might ring up and find out what they used.

thanks for that.

But the sound definitely comes from the diff. If i let the truck crawl along in low range with the hubs locked i can walk next to the truck and see the diff moving. sounds terrible.

Im guessing the sound/movement in the diff will also explain why the front shaft turns ...
