Re: Getting mud in bead. Any solutions?

Regularly use the sikaflex. Gotta make sure the bead of the tyre and seat of the rim is really clean before applying.
I hate myself when the tyres come back and need changing. Adds about 10-15min/wheel to the fitting time in order to clean all the old sikaflex off and reapply.

Re: 17" tyres - Availability outback

Yeah 17's are a lot more common. Especially in the 265/65R17, 275/65R17 and 265/70R17 sizing. A lot of the later model vehicles are coming out and have been for a lot of years on 17's so they are definately reasonably easy to get.

Re: split rim offset 40 series / GU compatability

GU will hit on the tie rod end. They are a P0 offset and you need at least a N13 (to just clear) or a N22 would be better. There are no 16x8 OE tubeless rims off later model vehicles that will clear the tie rod ends

Re: help needed!! with castor bushers

Not all of them are a press fit. Some polyurethane castor bushes are a three piece setup like a normal poly bush.

If that's the case lining them up is just a matter of positioning the front bush bolt hole north in the vertical plane of the standard bush hole, and opposite for the rear. Test fit it ...

15x8 will be fine.
Bias tyres will usually happily run a few PSI lower than a Radial unbeadlocked. I wouldn't have a drama running 15PSI front and probably as low as 12PSI rear without tubes or beadlocks (low speed). Just have a play with the pressures over time.

Kings and Dynamic will handle a fair flogging and they are well priced so if you do stuff one, it's not the end of the world. If you are doing a lot of rock, it might pay to lash out and buy some ProComp.

the maxxis website says 11inch rim

http://www.maxxis.com/AutomobileLight-Truck/Extreme-Off-Road/M8060-Trepador.aspx

I'd say they've left a bit out when they've done the rim widths. Most manufacturers would put a range in there. Mickey Thompson suggest:
9-11 for a 13.50" wide tyre
8-10 for a 12 ...
