Re: Thermo's on a MH Triton!

the previous owner may have had overheating problems, hence the large alloy radiator. Keep this set up and check your engine temps in summer. Tritons have a good gauge that will slowly move when engine temps rise and fall. (unlike a lot of cars where the gauge will stay still at temps between 75 and...

Re: modifying clutch fan to electric fan

The electric fan will also put a large load on the alternator which may not produce enough current to offset this.
Also, as burnse said, the engine driven fan draws a LOT more air through the radiator than a electric fan ever will.
This is needed in hot climates, such as malaysia.

fit new shocks and leave the stock torsion bars in it for now. fit your new bullbar and wait a few months to see if the original torsion bars sag any more with the weight of the bullbar. if they do sag just re-index them to get more adjustment back. Unless you have a steel bullbar, winch, brushbars,...

you could either replace the head gaskets on the current motor (as long as the heads are not cracked and the bottom end is ok) Or purchase a second hand motor from a TR/TS magna v6 and have it fitted after everything is swapped over ie inlet and exh manifold, sump, oil pickup dizzy etc The magna eng...

pull off the rear wheels, and with the hand brake off, remove the drums and look at the shoes as there may not be much lining left on them. Being a farmers vehicle it may well be fairly dirty in there and need a good cleaning up and lubricating. Do this first before suspecting stretched cables. REga...

you won't get much of a power increase by increasing the boost a few psi but it will help and you will notice it.
P.S.
make sure your cooling system is in tip top shape as these engines do not like to get too hot or they will crack the cylinder head.

mj triton 4x4 definately will have a LSD. Problem i have with mine is the same as you - easy to lift opposing wheels and lose all drive. only way i have found that helps is to pull the handbrake on. This helps stop the wheel in the air spinning and direct drive to the wheel with traction. It usually...

that has been butchered hasn't it!! It is a overboost pressure relief valve that i believe is supposed to open at about 15psi. factory boost is about 12 psi. this can be adjusted by shortening the wastegate rod. What you can do if you want is to buy a blanking plug to screw in there. REgards Epitroc...

the noise at full lock is the steering lock stops rubbing against the lower control arm as the suspensions moves when you go off the curb. my MJ triton does the exact same thing. The other noise could very well be the front diff as it is bloody loud!! If it is the front diff you can unbolt the cover...

usually shims are added to apply extra clamping force on the clutch packs. while you are in there look at renewing the clutch packs as these do wear out.

check the carby as it might have some dirt in the jets, the float level might not be right, or it might be sucking in air. Also with these carby's make sure the secondary diaphragm holds vacuum. if it doesn't then you are running on one barrell in the carby and losing lots of power over 3500rpm. REg...

possibly the coolant temp sensor for the ECU giving false readings when cold. Otherwise, maybe the TPS but that may be a long shot as this should give trouble all the time, hot or cold.

don't go heavy handed when tightening the bolts back up. the alloy can strip if tightened up too much. i think the torque is about 14nm.
Also clean the bolt threads up if they come out rusty and crappy. Makes them easier to screw back in.
