I am also using MQ front shackles (new), as they are serviceable, unlike the MK shackles. Also slightly easier to source springs (genuine or aftermarket). serviceable ?? MK front leaf front end is wider then MQ one - How can You use narrower shackles with wider leafs ?? As I was suggesting ...

get slightly longer rear shackles from a LWB (they are longer than SWB). WTF  - how much longer ?? About 1" from memory - but since they are from that model Patrol, etc, etc, you will never have hassles with RWC or what ever. Softens the ride a little - part of the reason for the helper ...

In that case, since you have all the bits, I'd say go for it! From what I have encountered, the bits are interchangeable, though occasionally plugs are different. Since you are changing just the 'mechanical part of the electrical system', I reckon it shouldn't be any harder than doing a 'normal ...

If you're worrying about how big you can really go, then SOA is a serious consideration. Also if you are planning on going over 33", I suspect on-road handling is not high on your list of priorities...

Hey Wicked, what setup are you running to use the 40"s?

24V to 12V conversion is a PITA. Been the bane of old MQ diesels for years. Do the drive line and suspension, sure, but unless you can get 12V equivalent parts for the engine (EFI controller, alternator, transducers), then don't bother as the hassle, cost and time spent will outweigh the benefit ...

Or if you are serious, go Spring Over Axle conversion - 4" lift straight away! Don't recommend shackle lift, unless you like side-flex in your springs. It _shouldn't_ be a problem, but tends to be... Also messes up spring rates. You can get 3" spring lift (had a set in a LWB MQ wagon) - was from ...

From having done gearbox changes (4sp to 5sp) on the diesel, I've found that shafts don't seem to fit well between different trucks - something is always a little twisted, bent, not inline, what ever. Measure the shaft from uni-face to uni-face, get a shaft that is preferably a little bit too long ...

Re: Turbo manifold.

G.Day can any one tell me if a SD33 and a TD42 exhaust manifolds are the same. Cheers. SD33 and SD33T manifolds are interchangeable, but the fuel injection gear is a total pain to swap over. The injection pump is cable actuated on the SD33T and vacuum actuated on the SD33. Timing gears are also ...

Go to a wrecker and see if you can pilfer a boot while your there, you might find some raised springs. The lift looks ...

Re: MK LWB body lift and shackle lift questions, not the usu

i cant for the life of me remember wether those two mounts in the rear wheel arches and actual mounts of just buffers, kind of like bump stops?? All of the bolts with blocks etceteras are used to hold the body, they aren't really 'optional'. Just checked the block you are talking about - yes, it ...

Correct - the double cardon joint usually goes closest to the transfer case.

If running extreme lift and not tilting the diffs to suit, then a double cardon may be required at each end.

The front leak could also be from someone playing with the priming pump - if you undo it to manual pump the system, they tend to leak. They do this, don't worry about it. But if it is the hose, then yes, change it! Rear leak can be from careless filling, as the excess runs down the inside of the ...
