1kz-te fly by wire intake

Gday, I have a 2004 1kz-te hilux turbo diesel. Its got a fly by wire electronic throttle, after alot of trouble shooting i have come to the conclusion that the sluggish behaviour of the engine is because the butterfly is opening 45% of the way. I am not sure where to go from here. Do the ECU's ever ...

Re: 1kz-te 2004 Hilux sluggish and doughy

Its also fly by wire, no throttle cable or anything. I believe they change from cable to FBW in 2002... When i took the throttle body off i also took the little motor for the butterfly and the case that sits over the spring loaded thing on the other side. I am unsure as to why they have a screws ...

Re: 1kz-te 2004 Hilux sluggish and doughy

OK, So i took the throttle body off and intake manifold and completely cleaned it all out, removed the EGR completely as it was broken and stuffed, blanked the EGR on the manifold and the pipe coming from the turbo side of engine. It responds alot better now but not as it should. It also now idles ...

1kz-te 2004 Hilux sluggish and doughy

Hey all, I have a 12/04 Lux, 3.0ltr TDI with a 1KZ-TE in it. It behaving really poorly of late. When you take off from idle it feels really under powered and sluggish. If you sink the boot into it, it bogs down and barely accelerates - feel worse than NA. When you reach 3000rpm it suddenly feels ...

Re: 15" Wheels on RA

You just have to make sure the offset is right, i think the stock 16x7 steely is 0 offset, positive offset would enable you to clear the calipers, thus fitting on the 15's. I have too, thought about fitting 15 inch mags on mine with some 32's, would make life so much easier! Let me know how you go ...

Hey, Ive run into a few dramas with my 1hzt. I might be looking at a new head or maybe even a new long block.. was speaking with a engine rebuilder and he said youll have big dramas buying a reco'd long 1hz and bolting everything up, and running a turbo. He said the rings and what not will not bed ...

Re: 100 series blowing smoke

Injectors? How many k's on the rig? EDIT: if the fuel filter is blocked, it just wont make power/flat spots. air filter will cause black smoke due to not enough air to burn all the fuel and i think white is unburnt diesel aswell, im not sure if a air filter blockage will cause this but i know that ...

105 series 1HZ-T intercooler idea

Hey, I have an idea which is open for more advice and other ideas about intercooling my 1hz-t -- also post some pics if you have seen this done!! The 105's have much more room between the bonnet and engine than the 70 series , so i was thinking of using the space and making some brackets and fit ...

Interesting responses guys, thanks. Yeah they are a high rev'er, i dont usually do 130-140 but sometimes you need to when over taking etc.. Yeah, 94kph is 100kph with the allowance of tyre size. I think i might just stay with the box i got i think or eventually upgrade to a better stronger tojo box ...

Re: Different gearbox behind a 1hz

Na, ive got a GT2876rs bolted on running 35's... i have no power issues, even when towing. On the freeways doing 110-130 it pulls almost 3000rpm, just be nice to drop into 6th down to 2100rpm or something..

Changing oil doesn't stop a head cracking, i didn't say that either. All i'm saying is that preventative maintenance and keep an eye on things will prevent premature cracking of the heads due to turbos. No doubt adding a turbo will decrease the engine life, but if its done properly, it will be a ...

No, 1hz's are not designed to have a turbo... but they run a shit load better with one. They can also handle them perfectly as well. x2 to what Zoltan said.. I've had a turbo 1hz for over 100k on mine, starts first time everytime.. no problems at all. and for a 3.1t cruiser, it hauls arse. I keep my ...

The only reason i really changed turbos is the TD05 DTS turbo shat itself... only 5 year old too.
