we've got a 60l trailblazer that I bought second hand a couple of years ago. They work great. Once they're cold, they don't seem to draw too much due to the 3 inches of insulation. The thermostat went just before christmas right before we were due to go away. They're such a simple unit, that I could ...

winding the torsion bars up won't stop the rubbing at full compression. When I had my 99 lux with heavy duty torsion bars I still scrubbed at mid lock and full compression with 33x10.5. Honestly the only way to stop it was to remove the mud flaps, cut the inner guard and trim the inside of the ...

had the same problem with mine. As Guts said, make sure the bolts that go through the guards don't touch the guard. When I installed mine the first time I didn't drill out the holes to 18mm as instructed and this created heaps of rattle. In the end, I had to redrill the holes and I baught a piece of ...

1990 VX sahara. The factory lockers seems to be reasonably reliable, just slow to engage. only had the vehicle a month or so, so only had limited usage of the lockers, but probably prefer an air locker.

Ian, here's the pic of the locker switch for you. Sorry it's a bit blurred, but my camera is playing up . The front and rear are on same switch. Basically push and twist to engage rear, then twist clockwise again to engage front and rear (ie can't engage front without rear.

hope this helps

80 series wet seatbelt

Anyone else experienced this. After rain, noticed that the seat belt on drivers side - centre row seat is wringing wet when you pull it out. It's a 1990 model 80 series. Seem to recall when my father had an early 80 as well, he had the same problem. It's only on that side, same belt

Is it a ...

1HDT problems

considering the purchase of a early 80 series (1990) with 1HDT. Heard from various sources that these can be prone to problems particularly big end bearings. Does anyone have any experiences/feedback about this? If so, are these issues with early models only or 1HDT in general? Are there tell tale ...

heavy duty torsion bars will give you about 30-40mm. Definately help if you have a steel bar up front. Any other kits are gonna cost you big $$$$

ther'll never be much wheel travel - it's ifs.

hilux with bundera coil front end

I was reading an old issue of 4wd monthly and saw a hilux that had SAS with Bundera coil front end. Running standard hilux leaf springs in the rear with coils between the chasis and leaf packs.

Any thoughts, opinions about a setup like this - good or bad? I know most guys doing SAS are running ...

I don't think rancho make this kit anymore, but there are others, superlift, skyjacker etc. Waste of time and money - about $3k for the kit and $4.5k if you have it installed in a shop. Won't give you more wheel travel, just 4" more height by lowering the lower control arms and front diff via new ...

Re: k

is to my understanding that transfer to gearbox (chain gearbox-geartransfer) is not interchangeable Thats what I thought but your 1st reply read that you only changed the t case, not the gearbox and t case.

So if I understand correctly, to do this conversion, BOTH gearbox and T-case need to be ...

Swap transfer cases in lux

what needs to be done to swap a chain driven transfer from late model lux for a gear driven transfer from early model?

Gear driven is stronger right? With more options for reduction gears or dual cases?

hilux snorkel woes

what set out to be a simple exercise to install a snorkel on my 3.0L diesel hilux is doing my head in. I now have a serious vibration rattle at low revs (1500 - 2000rpm). Have pulled the thing off 3 times but cannot find it.

Any suggestions :?:

with tyres, rear locker and decent set of shocks, it will be more than capable for what you want. we have used ours on heaps of long touring trips as well as weekend fun. I also invested in a set of heavy duty torsion bars to support the weight of the steel bar.
