I've always used Marine 232. Half the fibreglass boats in the world are held together withthis stuff. If you want it stuck ans to stay stuck this is the one.

By the way always check the use by date on the tube. Sealants do have a shelf life and if it's close or past don't buy it.

battery cables I have always found that bigger is better even for jumper leads. Try going to your local BOC or welding supply shop and buy some decent cable from there.
