i am aware that the vehicles are basically the same, however i don't know if FORD used the same running gear (engines, transmissions, diffs) as the patrols, hence my query

92 Maverick Suspension Lift

Hey all, currently looking at doing a suspension lift on a mates 92 ford maverick. i know its coils all round but wondering if any of the patrol stuff fits them? Looking for advice from those who have done the lift and what springs/shocks they used. If you have done it did you need to remove sway ...

Hilux 2WD instrument cluster

Hey,

just wondering if a Hilux 2WD instrument cluster can be used in place of a 4WD one? is there a spot to attach the 4wd light also? i need a cable driven speedo for my 4runner as the current transfer case is cable driven but my dash is the electronic one

thanks

i put 100 series shocks in the rear and 80 series shocks in the front. Stock would probably be fine but aftermarket if u want a firmer ride. Should give you plenty of up and down travel, mine do.

hey mate i put a 22re in my 4runner. it'll bolt straight up to a G52 or equivalent gearbox. they certainly have a lot more kick than the 22r's. I'm going to turbo mine soon as u can never have too much power. lol. If you have the money i recommend going straight to a V8, but if your on a budget like ...

hey mate, did a front coil conversion in mine recently, but did it with mates. cost me around $1200 all up including raised shocks and springs, definitely the cheapest way to go. As said above labor for the job alone will run pretty high into the thousands took us ages to do it.

you need to undo all the body to chassis mounts should be between 8 and 12 of them. You need 50mm body lift blocks (you can buy them pretty cheap off ebay) and longer bolts. You use a high lift jack, or regualr jack with a block of wood on it to lift one side up till you can fit the blocks in. Then ...

ok, finally got a chance to test out the flex. rear is bloody awesome! front drops pretty good but doesn't push up that great. think it has to do with the radius arm angle, which will be fixed soon so hopefully will be all good. so the only pics i have added is rear flex. will post up some of front ...

as mentioned above, a support rod needs to be made from the new panhard mount to the chassis rail. We used a rod with about 4mm wall thickness which should give it some good support. we have since done this, but i will post the pics of that up farther down, as i want to try and keep this thread in ...

next job on the list is to mount the steering box. you will need to use the bundera one as the arm swings the opposite way to the 4runner/surf one due to the IFS vs Solid Axle. If you try and use the 4runner steering box it will just hit everything  you will need to do some measuring to make ...

a good mate with good welding skills and a good welder are now required to weld it all up nice and strong. once you have done that you can chuck in the coils n shocks and she is ready to sit on the ground once again, now with 4 corner coils! http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f127/nathanshnoz/252.jpg ...

after that, it's time to start 'jigging up' the front end. roll it under there and start lining up all your mounts. you'll need to measure your wheelbase from the center of the rear hubs to the center of the front hubs to ensure the front end is sitting in the right spot. we chose to pull it forward ...

now you need to cut 2 small plates of steel out of some scrap stuff (any bits of bundera chassis rail will do nicely) as you need to plate across the back of the engine mount so the shock tower will have a more stable place to be welded onto.
