Re: front diff locker worth it?
Hey I think you'll find its really worth while saving for the air locker instead there's a lot of situation where a front auto locker is not helpful like slippery descents, or maneuvering through a tight track. also alot more constant stress on cv's etc

Hilux front diff
Hey, Been trying to research but having trouble finding the right info. Just pulled my front centre out to find the crown wheel with a whole lot of teeth missing for the 3rd time lately. My question is I have a RD132 ARB locker in my 90's hilux housing and want to put a high pinion 3rd member in the ...

Re: 80 coils in a 4runner
If your gonna buy some anyway i'd be speaking to dobbinsons in qld they did the rears for my 4runner after trying a few different spring including 80 series standard springs but all were way too stiff, ended up getting mine made off a surf template but much softer.

Yea I'd say pull the cover off and check the lever is in the right position i know mine can fit between the forks and sometimes i accidentally get it in the wrong position and have to pull it out to re-align it.

Re: lo range gear shift
If its in back the front as you'll see if you try change it, the shifter will be way off to one side it really only goes in 1 way and alot off people have similar problems.
From what I've seen sometimes its the bushing for the shifter, and sometimes it just needs to be bent away a touch.

Re: REPLACING DOOR HINGES - LN65 (late 83 to early 88 model)
Yea mate I'd assume because they didnt really change the body or doors much through that time you'd be right getting some newer model second hand ones, and they dont usually wear out that bad so should be right with second hand anyway.

Brake upgrade on 4Runner
Hi, I have searched but not found clear enough info on what I wanna do. Firstly the stock brakes on the 83 4Runner are terrible and with 35's they're pretty useless. So far I've got the 1'' bore master, and the larger drums with the IFS Diff but its still not able to even slow me down on real steep ...

Re: Winch for suspension
Thanks for all the replies guys. And yea Im sure they will sag a bit but they are way off for the moment. After the shock loading statement was raised i thought that would become a fair problem, and air shocks would have very different characteristics to spring and shock id assume thats why all the ...

Re: Winch for suspension

Winch for suspension
Hey guys, just wondering weather or not its a real silly idea to have a small winch to pull down the rear suspension in a normal full bodied rig, after buying some coils that turned out to be way to tall for the back of my 4Runner I thought maybe this could work to my advantage if i pulled the rear ...

It's a pretty big job to coil it, but does make the world of difference, i used a kit through locktup worked out about $1500 though it was fairly easy to install just time consuming.high_lux wrote:whats wrong with coiling the rear end, ??

If your set on the locktup gear give them a call Chris will fill you in on all the options and he's great to deal with...
But in my experience coils are better then leaves but the kits they do are really good in either for luxs.

Coil height for 4runner
Bit lost for how to go about getting some coils for the rear of the runner. I know what height i want it to sit and the distance between my coil mounts is about 350mm but how do i go about ordering a spring the right height as it never had coils? I have heard that 80 series springs give about 4'' of ...

If they are -30 offset and 8" rim does this mean i would need something like a -55 in 10" to achieve the same amount of clearance for chassis and inner guards? Man your never gonna get a straight answer but the short version is everyone with 8'' wide will tell you 10'' wide, your tyres will fall off the wheel, And everyone with 10'' wide wheels will say they've never had a problem and it will allow you to have more offset or mount wider tires. i run 10 ...
