Re: 1HD-T injector pump - high idle speed help
Throttle spindle wear in carbies always seems to be much more variable more often. 250odd rpm due to spindle wear would equate to a pretty large butterfly opening. Injector pump got rebuilt about 130 000 ago. I'll have to post some photos. The issues seems to be an ajdustment somewhere. Does anyone ...

Re: 1HD-T injector pump - high idle speed help
It is not the throttle cable. The throttle lever is sitting against the grub screw at rest (as described above).

1HD-T injector pump - high idle speed help
Hoping someone can help with my issue. Motor is 1HD-T in 80 series cruiser. The idle speed has recently increased and sits on 800rpm. It stays on 800rpm 90% of the time, although it has dropped down to its usual 600ish rpm a couple of times. I had a look at the A/C idle up actuator today to see if ...

Starter motor/solenoid help - 80 series
Hi, Got an HDJ80R (1HD-T). Everynow and again the solenoid clicks (CLUNK) and the starter does not turn. It ahs done this about 3 or 4 times in 12 months. This week it has started to do it more consistently, and when it does start sometimes it is a bit doey. Battery is good. Put multi meter on ...

Re: 80 series HID kit problem
I got Dad the JCar Hi/Low upgrade for Christmas for his 60 series. It s doing the exact same thing.
NO spotlights, and no high beam indicator on dash.
Thanks this sounds great.
So it works with 80 series -(ve) switching. Does it def work with the 60 series +(ve) switching?

1HD-T injectors - can they be bench tested?
Hi, Looking at getting 1HD-T injectors tested before commencing tuning work. Have done 130k since last service. Still starting easily and not blowing smoke. Economy does seem to have dropped slightly in last 30 000km. How long between services for these type of injectors when running good fuel? I ...

Re: Wiring relay to headlights 80 series - relay stays close
thanks.
the negative switching was a silly idea.
the diagram on that web page looks overly complicated.
Do many people just rip it out and turn the lights back into a normal positive switching set up?
I think this is what I will do.

Wiring relay to headlights 80 series - relay stays closed
Hi, Just knocked up a relay to my H1 high beams on 80 series. Having a problem with the relay staying closed. When I turn the headlights off, the low and high beam stay on very dull. Have to pulll out the earth or power from the relay to turn them off. Whats holding the relay open and what is the ...

Advice on turbo diesel tuner Brisbane
Hi, Looking at getting some tuning work done on 80 series 1HD-T. Looking at Motson's at Coopers Plains. Many people used him? Seems to have been around forever. Feedback? Does he run conservative settings? How do you go EGT wise afterwards? Hope someone can help or suggest some other places if need ...

Re: King Pin shims + eccentric bearing races
Thanks for the help. I should add - the shims a mechanic gave me were slightly different for the bottom (I have an 80 series). The stud pattern of the four bolts was broader/longer. I had no other way of getting shims out here, so I trimmed the corners. I rang sci fleet in Brisbane this morning and ...

I put a 0.2mm shim on the bottom and it came up nicely. Nice a smooth with some steady drag.

Re: King Pin shims + eccentric bearing races
Thanks. I am confident the bearings are seated properly. The bottom kingpin looks like it has been shimmed in the past. I reckon its just been lost or forgotten to put back on. The offset bearing races - yes one is cracked thourgh the thin side. I have replaced with standard bearings. I might try a ...

King Pin shims + eccentric bearing races
Hi, Currently working on swivel hubs on 80 series. Have pulled out king pin races and they were worn in almost an oval shape. Showed them to an old mechanic and he said they had been made like that and were formed in an eccentric manner to adjust camber. The king pins had no shim on bottom, and only ...

Re: Advice on EGT readings - 1HD-T
Thanks. V hard to test motor EGT at full load as I live in Cloncurry and there are no hills like what would be required. In terms of how deep my hit pockets are - just deep enough to splash out on a $500 pyroguage - not deep enough to blow a $10k motor. My triple carbed EH is my play car. This one ...

Re: Advice on EGT readings - 1HD-T
Thanks - thats what i thought. I reckon a stock 1HD-T would be much lower. I am a bit worried that the settings will be too much for a big load - i.e. towing my big boat up Fraser island fully loaded. Next step would be to check boost I guess. In comparison, have just been up to fraser in a mates ...

Re: Advice on EGT readings - 1HD-T
Thanks,
So just to confirm slowhilux - is your FTE running standard fuel boost settings?
So similar reading on 1HD-T with 12psi would indicate that my fuel boost settings are NOT standard.
Are these temps ok?
I have set the alarm on pyro to come on at 550 and off at 500.
Thanks for the help.

Hi, I have just fitted an ENG-TEK digi pyrometer to my 80 series. Looks to me to be running pretty hot - opinions please! Its a 1HD-T with beaudesert 3inch exhaust. The three tweaks listed on LCOOL sound sensible and a good starting point. My engine does not seem to have an issue with off idle response as listed in the LCOOL acticle. Re: Headlights not working 80 series
Thanks for the help.
The relay turned out to be faulty - although it was still closing and opening. The plastic around the power in spade was melted.
Does anyone know what these factory relays are rated at? Must be reasonable to run twin headlights. Toyota couldnt tell me.

Headlights not working 80 series
Hi, I have a headlight issue. The lights (low and high beam) flickered on and off about 4 or 5 times and are now not going at all. The day this happened I had just replaced the Harmonic balancer and obvisouly had all the lights/grill out to do this. My first thought was that an earth or something ...

80 series GXL Turbo - Gearbox leak/breather issue
Vehicle is 80 series turbo diesel GXL. Only had it 7000kms or 5 months. I have noticed oil sprayed underneath vehicle on passenger side. Checked Transfer case/diff and oil was full. Drain and refilled with new oil and checked plugs. Checked gearbox and was low - drained and only 2.2L came out ...
