sierra with no front drive

Gday all,
A friend of mine has a sierra, when she puts it into 4x4, the light comes on but no power is applied to the front diff....Has anyone had this problem before?

I am only fairly new to the 4x4 side of things, but would this most likely be the transfer case???

i'm about to do mine to my MK shorty, I made my snorkel out of 90mm PVC and I am going to use a 92mm holesaw to bring it thru the guard, cant get much easier than that
