Generally water injection is used in combination with nitrous to prevent detonation. Extended use of nitrous will overheat an engine quickly, and the water injection assists in preventing detonation (preignition) in petrol engines. I have never heard of glycol injection before, however combining ...

As opposed to staking a front mount intercooler whilst in a creek crossing? I would think theres a much better chance of that happening than a stick puncturing a water/air intercooler. Most water/air intercoolers are located high in the engine bay, often as a crossover pipe. Not many sticks make it ...

Go the top mount, There should be plenty of room to one side of the engine bay to fit it in without it having to sit on top of the engine, if possible keep it on the inlet side of the engine bay to minimise heat soak from the hot exhaust.

Kiint where are you suggesting a stick etc will damage the heat exchanger. As I said, however remote the chances, they are still there. But basically you take a barrel intercooler for instance, all it takes is a stick/rock/whatever to puncture the shell of the intercooler and bend a few of the ...

From old memory (its been over 10 years since I was in the mechanics game) a cruiser box is definately not a one man lift unless you are good with juggling a jack at the same time. I would definately recommend against it unless you have a jack that perfectly cradles the box without you needing to ...

Short Answer: Bang for buck air to air wins hands down. Long Answer: Water to air if you can afford to do it correctly , but its far more expensive than its worth. A few kits can be found here - http://www.pwr.com.au/coolers_ltoa.html The biggest problem is the danger (however remote that may be ...

Get one of these and replace this first. Yep, after taking a quick look at the front end, I am thinking this is a good idea :) (or at least can't hurt) I might put my name down at the wreckers for a power steering setup from a wreck anyway, if anything to make it easier for the missus to drive ...

No power steering. I wonder how difficult it would be to swap in a ball power steering box if mine is buggered from a wreckers or something. Wouldnt it just be a matter of bolting on the pump and installing the new power version of the box? I have the wheels off at the moment and I am going to more ...

LN106 89 Hilux Steering Question

I just bought an 89 Dual Cab LN106R 2.8L Hilux which I am doing up as a bush basher/camping 4x4 ($3k for those curious) Anyway, it has a fair amount of work necessary to get it to pass a safety certificate. Apart from the body work, I have to fix the inner seal on the front left diff housing ...
