Re: Solutions for camping power? which battery/charging meth
My reasoning behind choosing an optima is pretty much because of ONE: the warranty (2 years) and TWO: so far to my research they are the biggest deep cycle (75 ah) i can get the still fits a standard N70ZZ battery tray. BUT.... lately ive been confused by alot of battery mobs i ring about the SOD or ...

Re: Solutions for camping power? which battery/charging meth
Oh and the turning the fridge off i figured would work out better for consumption. as it draws 2 amps an hour overnight (total 10 to 12 hours, work on 10) thats a saving of 20AH's overnight then when i turn it on the most it would draw on the normal cycle (3000rpm) is 2.8 AH's and would only take ...

Re: Solutions for camping power? which battery/charging meth
Ive never been a fan of LED lighting due to it being voltage depended. i.e as soon as the battery falls below fully charged they start to dim, whereas fluros (as long as there started) stay bright untill theres simply no juice left in the battery. plus ive allready spend 200 bucks on camping fluros ...

Re: Second battery DEAD after two years!
Alright, im just going to name names, its just easlier. im not saying that there is anything wrong with these products/companies but this is just my experience with them. Car was brought new in 2008 via an agent, which was then sent over to tjm who installed a dual battery system (rotronics brand ...

Second battery DEAD after two years!
Gday all, Just wondering if anyone else has had problems with second batteries not lasting the distance? i purchased a Well Known brand cranking and deep cycle battery (700cca or 105AH) about two years ago when i brought my new patrol. about 6 months ago the winch stopped working which i assumed was ...

Re: So... My Rangie stopped again.
It dosent use any oil or water to my knowledge, carbie is a 350 holley so that rules that out. and the dissy is electronic with a lumenition system in it, but if it was that why would it spit out white smoke when i try to crank her over after it dies? i was thinking something more serious like the ...

So... My Rangie stopped again.
Driving to the shooting range to other day, got about 5 kms from home and the rangie karked it! It started and ran like a dream untill it warmed up (bout 5 kms) then just spat out white smoke, died and wouldnt start again, just kept spitting out white smoke when i tried to kick the engine over. So i ...

Re: timing issues for my 3.5L help.
Primed oil pump gears with lots of vasoline and kicked engine over without coil lead in to build up pressure for a bit. started first time, tappet noise was better and dissapeared within one minute of running and the oil pressure gauge showed full pressure. She purs like a kitten now!

Re: timing issues for my 3.5L help.
yeah my bad garrycol. would of helped if i said i didnt prime the oil pump from the start. ive run it for a total of about 1 and a half minutes, would this be long enough to cause damage to an un-lubricated engine? it did not rev over 2 grand. I will prime oil pump, reset timing and try again on the ...

Re: timing issues for my 3.5L help.
would it be making the knocking noise from the start though, even if i didnt prime the oil pump? i have an oil light that stays on now that ive changed the cover but i also have an oil pressure gauge and it moves slighty when the engine is running. is there anyway of priming the oil pump without ...

Re: timing issues for my 3.5L help.

Re: timing issues for my 3.5L help.
So wait, What is the timing on a 3.5L carbie rover meant to be? on the plate riveted to the engine bay it states 5 degrees ATDC (after top dead centre) with vaccum advance and retard connected. ive set it at 5 degrees ATDC and the engine runs but with the knocking and rattles and such that its so ...

Re: timing issues for my 3.5L help.
LOL. funny enough i changed the oil pump from the old cover to the new cover.... and may or maynot have forgotten to prime it! but even if i did it shouldnt be making that noise from as soon as i start the motor? and im pretty sure the oil press gauge is moving. I have the timing set at 5 degrees ...

Re: seized brake piston!
the Beauty of using air to blow it out is that it can be controlled, on a bench with safetly precautions. a simple block of wood allowing a 20 mm clearance infront of the piston and building up the pressure with an air squirter and a gentle tap with hammer has worked everytime with me. but the idea ...

Re: timing issues for my 3.5L help.
nothing was changed around as far as i know. will check leads tomorrow but i just pulled the cap off and sat it up on the manifold out of the way. I dont even know if its timing related anymore, using a timing light, its showing the correct timing but its still knocking and pretty much undriveable.

Re: seized brake piston!
Dont know if its the same but i overhauled my old patrol rear brakes. they were only a one piston non-floating caliper type. pretty easy just blew out piston via brake line inlet using compressor( very VERY careful, put a piece of wood in front of it and keep fingers away). Clean everything up, then ...

ok so after a full day of mucking around and trial and error i managed to get the timing spot on. BUT. replaced my timing cover on a 3.5l rrc and forgot to mark the dissy rotor in relation to the dissy body. and i may have turned the engine over whilst removing harmonic balancer, so now that im trying to get it to run i cant get the timing right! HELP! Waterpump housing for H motor
Need to source a waterpump housing for my hj45 ute. The outlet where the bottom radatior hose connects has cracked off (was made of alloy, possible aftermarket replacement?). got a rrc and its leaking coolant.....heaps of it. I narrowed it down to the back of the waterpump housing between the two small s bend hoses. It seems to be a smallish hole in the actual alloy. I was wondering if that part is replaceable or weather its a complete front housing. Does anyone know ...

Old fj45 questions
Mate just brought an old fj45 ute to do up as a hunting rig. its got the H series 3.6L diesel with the 4 speed box. How strong were the H series motors? And I was wondering if the later model 5 speed box would mate up to the existing H series motor and transfer case. Also the speedo needle waves all ...
