Re: Hilux Rear Diff problems again!
agree with sic lux, preload is extremely important.... gq diffs are 200 times stronger than any lux or cruiser diff, bottom line if you want a trouble free driveline throw the trol diffs in or better yet just buy one, you wont look back, gu4.8 200kw turning 36"pedes for nearly 4years now, never had ...

Re: Hilux Rear Diff problems again!
what do you do with the car? if it does not see much on road use then reducing the backlash in the rear diff reduces the chances of smashing things. backlash is recommended for on road but no back lash is good for off road only, as no backlash on road can cause too much heat. and yes using stronger ...

Re: Hilux soild rear tailshaft?
Some of the later Luxes had 1piece tailshafts. Theres info here somewhere on what to get one off. But if you get another centre bearing, fill the rubber boot full of sikaflex, apparently, the bearing isnt failing, its the rubber boot around it that gives up. So fill the rubber full of sikaflex a ...

Im in the middle of trying to figure out the best way to go with doing a rebuild on a hilux gearbox.
1. buy a rebuild kit priced at 350
2. do a Reco exchange for 650
do you guys think its worth the effort to do it myself or get it done by someone else and get warranty?
