Re: 80 series gurus answer my noob questions please.

On my 98 80 series I went with 2.5" Suspension stuff lift with dropped bump stops on front, offset castor bushes and 315/ 75 x 16's on 0 offset rims. No rubbing although I haven't flogged it too hard in the bush yet. I haven't even put in adjustable panhards yet, not sure I'll bother. The diffs are ...

This is my experience- I stumbled across a standard 80 wagon a couple of years ago, 1998 model, 190 000km, 1HZ, wasn't really looking for one but the old fella who was selling it took my $8500 offer. Its the best thing I ever did. I probably would have been looking for a 105 Cruiser when I got ...

Now, if i wanted to increase the power of my 1HDFTE i would not be spending $1-$2k on a water to air intercooler, i would spend it on a better turbo and a chip. If i am seeking the absolute best performance and money is no object (throwing money away) I would still get a better turbo(ballbearing ...

Re: Gearbox with top gear of 0.7 ish???

I think there must be a difference between 1HZ Rs and Lux based Rs, we have run them behind V8s in our club, some even turboed 5.0s, and never busted them. You do need to ensure you don't overstress 5th in lo range though. I was given to understand there is a shaft coupler in there that perhaps has ...

Re: Glazed bores

Glazed bores occur due to combustion temperatures not being high enough to burn all the fuel and oil in the combustion chamber. This generally occurs more with two stroke diesel's when left to idle for too long. Most detroit diesel have a high idle built into the governor to prevent this, by ...

Re: RN106 Cab-Swap Info Needed...giving the lux some extra d

I think all hilux 4WDs have the same chassis be it Single Cab, Dual Cab or Extra Cab. Hence why an extra-cab tray is shorter than a single-cab tray. 4Runner chassis is shorter, as is the wheelbase, so this will not work in my opinion. With the 89- 97 luxs the single and dual cabs had same wheelbase ...

Whats the most offset angle you are allowed for your rims in Qld? if you mean wheel offset you are only allowed to increase the track of your vehicle (measure from the center of one tire to center of opposite tire) by 2" so if your using the same tyre/rims as factory, you can increase your offset ...

How much for a 1hdft?

As topic says, I'm in the market for one of Toyota's finest. It will be replacing a 200k 1hz in a 98 80 series, with H151 box. Best price so far is $9500 for an import engine. I know they are great motors and all, and are reasonably rare, but this seems a lot of coin for a 15 odd year old engine ...

Diff housing from current Hilux is the same width as 80 series (4" or so wider than earlier IFS lux rear), same 8" centre as you have, pretty sure it bolts up.

If you use 60 diff in the rear you could source the gearbox/ transfer from 1hz 100 series Cruiser, or the box/ tranfer from Bundera (g52 and r151) if you are worried about the angled rear shaft. You would need to get a fuel tank to fit behind the rear diff also.
