If your going to put the time and effort in, have you thought about a zd30 instead? The results would be chalk and cheese.
One thing to think about, is would the z24 manual cope with the additional torque of the td27. I am not saying it wont, just something to think about.

Re: Winch power cable
And the better option is....... I have only ever wanted a hydraulic winch, however an electric winch came up at the right price. Like yourself I was concerned about unprotected 12V winch cables, winch solenoid faults and trying to use equipment that actually has an appropriate 12V rating. About the ...

Since youve changed the amount of boost, have you done anything about more fuel?
By the way you describe it, if you dont have a good egt gauge yet, it might be worth your while getting one.

Re: cv or hub?
Is it constant clicking or sort of a bit random?
If its not the CV, I will guess & say its the hub becoming disengaged from the, for lack of the proper term, 'drive collar'.
Have you put the cv snap rings back on in the right spot? Or the spacers behind the 'drive collar'?

Is it fair to say that your set up is like driving around in 4 high all the time? Reason I ask is how do you think it will go climbing steep stuff, little motor pushing big tyres & no low range?
Not having a go, just interested.

Re: Shell Spirax A
From a quick google & look at a few shell pages, spriax a s2 (not sure what the s2 is though) is api-gl5 & spriax g is api-gl4. Nissan specify api-gl4 for our gearboxes.Lawrence wrote:Would this have made a difference?

Nippon oil filter
I recently went to a shop specialising in air & oil filters, I asked for either Fleetguard or Donaldson filters & he came out with a Nippon filter. He gave me a bit of a sell on them & I politely insisted with what I originally asked for, stating this is the first time I have seen Nippon. Anyone ...

Re: gu gear oils
(assuming manual gearbox) Gearbox oil needs to be API-GL4. Not 5.
Castrol VMX is one oil, that is the right spec.
I would be using ATF in the transfer case.

Re: old pathfinders
Aside from the idler arm, the steering is not so much 'weak', more so the centre link can rotate in the horizontal. With a lift, the rotation in the centre link causes the tierod ends to operate outside of where they are designed to, then you get bending etc. Ufortunately I never really found much I ...

Donaldson do very good filter housings & filters. It just takes some effort to fit to the car.
I maybe wrong, but I think they do 'powercore' filters/elements for the cyclone style/shape housings now as well (probably a bit easier to fit).

question about ford v8 on gas
A bloke at work has a late 70's ford with, I believe, a cleveland v8 on gas Normally the engine starts & runs fine however if it stalls or is turned off it will not start again, untill left for 10 or 20 minutes. Then it will go again no worries. Its run only on gas, no petrol. Any suggestions what ...
