Is this a symptom of a bad clutch? When I start from a stand still, it revs out to 4k easily in first, and then when i change to 2nd at high revs it accellerates fine. When I bought my (now destroyed) 86 V8 4Runner (Independant front end, 253), I paid $8100 for it. That was a year and a half ago.

To me, $7000 does sound reasonable - but only because I have no idea of other prices out there.
