Thanks, Its 235/75R15 tires. Downshifting still drops the speed, there are some hills going between Sydney and Canberra, where I fill flog it towards them, as soon as I hit them, she starts crawling back, when I hit 3800rpm, I downshift to 4th, maintain the speed for a bit longer, but still trickle ...

How fast are Ferozas?

Hi, I have a IISX 93 Feroza running 235" tires, and Im wondering if it is meant to be like this, or if its just my car. Ill do 115 km/h according to the GPS, and be at 4000rpm on the flat, with not much more to give. Taco and speedo are not adjusted for the larger tires. Going up hills on the ...

The job should be well done. I always go to the same mechanic, because you get the impression they know what they are doing, and that they care. Never had a problem with any service there. He also provided road service for me when the old troopie broke down in both New Castle and Rockhampton ...

Buggered if I know, that was the rebuilding of the gearbox, and the reassembly of the clutch, and putting it back together again.

The noise has been located. At the same time as the gearbox was beeing rebuilt, the mechanic showed me something strange. Inside the clutch housing, there where tears in the metal... Like when you chop it, or tear it. A nut had come undone, and had been rattling, chewing, and slowly grinded itself ...

Hmm... It doesnt seem to be the fans, and it happens at all speeds, all gears and accelarating and breaking. A mate heard it the other day when the car was standing still, and he reckons it is the exhaust, something loose there, but nothign is moving that I can find. I didnt hear it at all the 600km ...

Plastic grinding sort of noise?

Hi All, Im getting some very weird sounds from my Feroza. They are intermittent, every now and then. I have heard them when standing still, when doing about 50, but not on the freeway. It sort of sounds like the sound that a plastic bottle makes when you crush it and it splinters... I cant find ...

Thanks, looks interesting! How much weight can the backdoor, or spare wheel holder hold? I know the troopies can develop cracks from the spare on the rear door, is the same a concern for the ferozas?

Hi All, Can anyone give me any pointers towards bicycle carrying solutions? I have a Feroza II SX with just the recovery point. I dont want to put them on the roof (2 bikes). Thanks,

Your right. I went to InCar earlier today, and they had the plug I needed. The painful thing is, that I tried to make it myself with wires from jaycar, it cost me $18 and many hours and some blisters. InCar had the exact adapter straight up, and it was $15, and a 10 minute job....

In my car now, I have a plug that went into the old unit, it has many little pins, round ones, 2 rows. Would I be able to get a male version of that, and wire it up with the ...

TB42 vs TB42E

Hi All, Im considering buying a SWB GQ/Mav, and had a look at a 88 Mav today. Looked very neat, but diff lock got stuck in the on position, so took it back to the dealer. I noted that it was a carby, and was wondering what that meant in terms of $$$. I got these figures out of 4WDMonthly: TB42 ...

it may be worth getting a compression test, which is done using either a compression tester or a leak down tester (generally wound into the glow plug holes) which any mechanic can perform. it will tell you what cylinders are bad, and how bad they are. Will give you much more confidence in the ...

Compression on my 2H poor?

I was at a 4WD training session this weekend, and one of the things we did was a stall start. I drove up the hill, stalled the car with the brakes, put it into reverse, and let go of the brakes. It was in low range. Now, the instructor told me that the compression of the engine should hold the car ...
