I've been told that the same sort of thing happens in Canberra near the radio towers at the lookout. but it unlocks and locks cars and set alarms off and hte like.

GU Central locking frequency

Anyone know what frequency the remotes work on? Ballpark figure?

Have a weird problem on the M1 QLD near Wet N Wild where my indicators both come on
together for about 30secs as if you're holding down the lock or unlock button.
Doesn't lock or unlock the doors though.

You'd need enough power in the battery to open the gas shutoff solenoid.
If you want to know for sure, find out the part number of your solenoid then check the web for specs on operating voltages.

I built one in high school and used polystyrene sheets in the cavities.
You can buy 2400x1200mm sheets of the stuff in various thicknesses.
Very easy to cut. I think I just used a hacksaw blade.

Anyone seen one of those fuel consumption stickers for an '07 4.8 auto GU wagon?

Dealers don't seem to display them for the GU 4.8, yet I had one on an '07 diesel Navara.
The website is useless, nothing updated since 2003.

Just curious to their results, as I'm getting a constant 17-18l / 100klm's.

What about solenoids and batteries? Open as long as it's 12v? eg. I can run 6x1000cca's parallel?
Breathers ok? Bracing? Brake shaft mod? Alternators?

Here's a few suggestions based on the weaknesses I encountered:

When you have the body off the chassis, stengthen the top coil spring mounts, trailing arm mounts & radius arm mounts.
Make up/buy some beefy trailing arms.
Replace/rebuild the A-frame mount on the diff housing.
Replace & strengthen ...

I've done some work with industrial PLC's, but they're all 24V. For obvious reason I'd prefer 12v digital IO.
Could just get a 12-24v converter. Very cheap these days.

Umm, just thinking aloud out here.
If you put a kill switch between your negative battery terminal and the body/chassis, it probably won't kill everything when you switch it as the alternator will keep the motor running.
You'd need to isolate the motor's ground to chassis as well on the same switch ...

If it's a 24 spline front end it'll have dust caps in the centre of the drive flanges.
If it's a 10 spline it'll have a solid 1 piece stub axle.
1993 is the year they changed, only way to tell is the drive flanges.

Do the disco 10splines have the same drive flanges as 10 spline rangies?

Yep ...

Do you mean a switch between the battery and the solenoids?
If so what's the switch rated at?

Try removing it and connecting the solenoids directly to the battery.
