Pretty sure the heads are identical on the 3Y & 4Y.. Could be wrong but I'm 99% sure they are the same head!

Re: Gear driven case on A340F

Thanks for that Thrashlux, you've pretty much covered all I needed to know there! By the sound of what you're saying there, I reckon I'd be better off chasing up an R box and getting a dellows bellhousing. I'd prefer to keep it manual but thought it may have been easier to run the Auto. I havent got ...

Re: Gear driven case on A340F

Thanks for the responses so far! Locktup's tranfer case adaptor is pretty pricey :? Thrashlux, what is a bellhousing from dellows worth roughly? When you say 'standalone' loom, can you please elaborate a little on how it works? The 1J will be going into my 1st gen 4Runner so there's bugger all ...

Gear driven case on A340F

Hi guys, 7M-GE conversion is now cancelled due to acquisition of a 1JZ-GTE  My question is - Can I mate my gear driven case (G52) onto an A340F auto box? Or even better can I get hold of one easily enough that already has one attached? I'd prefer to go auto with this conversion as the 2wd ...

Lokka installed in rear..
Took me about 6 hours from wheels off to wheels on and I've never touched a diff before!
So anyone else thinking of getting one, do it yourself, it's easy
Now it's time to go wheeling!!

Gen 1 4Runner. Front & Rear diffs the same???

Sorry for the newbie question, but I need to know if the front & rear diff internals are the same on my 84 live axle 4Runner  I've just bought a lokka and asked for one to suit the rear and have been sent one that's invoiced as being for the front.. I want to get to installation ASAP as I'm ...

Solid Axle Hilux / 4Runner Front Brakes

What different front brake combinations have you used on your solid axle luxes and runners?

It seems that a few toyota brake components are interchangeable and I'm looking at a better brake setup for the front of my Runner!

Cheers

I'm pretty sure it's a straight forward bolt up.. the clutch slave cylinder is on the opposite side but that's minor. The surf box (R150F or R151F) will bolt up to the 7M and will be strong enough for the 7M-GTE but you'll need a bellhousing from a supra with an R series gearbox.. Not the W series. I'm told the input shaft is shorter in the 4x4 box so either swap input shafts or get the bellhousing machined down to ...

I'm pretty sure they are different.. Not 100% though.
I know the G52 and W5x patterns are the same as I will be converting my 3Y to a 7M soon..
If the G and R patterns are the same then that's excellent because I'm not expecting my G52 to last too long behind the new motor!

They won't do anything for the arc of the springs if that's what you're asking..
They will drop the rear of the spring a couple of inches depending on their length but extended shackles are commonly used in conjunction with longer springs (eg RUF conversion) to allow for the best flex!

I'm pretty sure the heads are identical.. The easiest way would probably find a tarago with a 4Y-E and just swap the whole motor, otherwise you could probably just get the EFI gear from one and just bolt it up to your 3Y.. Cheap if you can find a wrecked one that a wrecker hasn't gotten to :cool ...
