Re: 1976 nissan G60 cab/chassis ute suspension mods

Hey guys I am doing up a G60 Ute and have done some research...

If you want to massage the suspension a lot forget all about stock leaf springs and forget about MQ/MK springs too. Well, at least forget about the front, they are only 40" long, shorter than the G60's! The rear on MQ/Mks are 53" long ...

I would post pics and video but it is not really all that great, plenty of better stuff out there then I shot.

BTW folks....Nissan uses the numbers to indicate ring gear size. IE, C200 = 200mm ring gear. FYI, in case you didn't know.

Re: MQ vs 35's

I beat on my C200 pretty hard for a year or so with 35s. It is locked with an ARB and it has GQ outer CVs and hubs. Never gave me a problem, it is stout for what it is, stronger then a D44 before upgrades IMHO. I will be dropping the C200 under another truck sometime in the future. That is how much ...

Re: MQ/MK locking hubs to GU/GQ

No

Different splines

Gq can't go on mq Ian different spline and size. The hub will bolt to the housing but only without internals

eh?

I am sure we are on the same page just not speaking the same language!

You take the outer GQ CV stub axle and fit it to the inner CV MQ/MK axle. You then bolt ...

Why would you want to....they are weaker.

I know the GQ hubs will work on an MQ/MK if you leave the snap ring off but I don't know if the opposite will work.

Re: Gearbox custom mount

My x-memebr is cut out and gone. I have some custom tranny mounts made from a vulcanized 1980s Chevy 1-ton pickup leaf spring bushing. We torched the e-brake off my t-case for a flat belly and I have a 3/8" belly skid. Oh and it is an MQ Patrol! :)

Mine are the 2nd ones Sim79 linked. Have not broken anything yet but mine are not Marks and don't use Patrol links. I am running Portal_teks and my links are 7075 aluminum with massive 1.25" rod ends made by QA1.

Hate to tell you guys this but.....

The H233 was made in a full floater. It is shown in the MQ/MK parts book. I also have pictures of a few Patrols with the full floater.

It is extremely rare though and I don't think you got any in Australia.

Can anybody tell me the exact month/year the GQ was released in Australia? And how about the same for the TD42? Also what was the first model? SWB, LWB, Ute or did they all come out the same month/year?

Thanks

As for being low, the MK/MQ was a belly dragger since it's birth.

That is the truth alright, especially for an LWB. There is ways to fix it though....Mine is no longer a belly dragging SOB, even though we have stretched the 93" wheelbase to 113"! ;)
