You very seldom have to pull an axle to replace a stud. Remove the wheel and brake drum or disc. Using a punch drive out the broken stud making sure you have space behind. Put new stud in from behind and using a wheel nut and some old washers or a socket as a spacer tighten and draw the new stud ...
