1hz wont glow
Hi all i have a 1hz in a 75 series and it uesd to glow and start fine. eg glow for a few seconds, crank then start strait away. Now when i turn the key on the glow light just flashes on for a split second then stops, so its not glowing long enough. It will still start because its a fairly healthy ...

Re: rebuilding a 304 for 80 series
I Dump the banana manifold the are shit look at the port entry . So you can tell port flow by looking at the manifold?? While they are not good on a big cam, high comp screamer they work great on torquey engines like something for 4wding. The length of the runner helps this. We used to do some ...

Re: rebuilding a 304 for 80 series
Any more than 2 1/2" single exhaust will cost you in torque, tri Y headers into a single 2.5" will work very well. 304s are already zero decked so maybe some flat tops and moly rings. Cheers How will a 2 1/2 inch exhaust cost you torque?? thats an age old wives tale. Maybe on a 3l diesel. Not on a ...

Re: rebuilding a 304 for 80 series
Start off by doing all the correct machine work. Bore + hone, 0 deck the block, Balance the assembly. Dont go to big in the cam shaft a crane 276 hydraulic would be a good cam. Some decent LT1 valve springs or if you have the money put some bigger double valve springs and rolller rockers on it. Id ...

Re: 1hz questions
I think another problem with 1hz's are also people not setting valve clearnaces properly as its a fairly big job. Before i turboed my engine i did all the tappets and found one exhasut with only 4thou clearance. Spec indicates 6-10 on inlet and 14-18 on exhaust. Soon as valves dont seat properly ...

Re: 1hz questions
While i agree that if your up for a rebuild it might be a good time to look at 1hdt conversion i dont believe that 1hz + turbo = trouble. I have a 1hz in my 75 series. With a t03 off an rb30, 14.4lb boost and a front mount intercooler it goes really well. It sees the governor all the time, i drive ...

Re: 1hz Dyno results
All dynos are different the main thing is that they are repeatable. Unless you get two cars running on the same dyno that would be the only way to compare. Ive spent alot of time on engine and chassis dyno's and chassis dynos are the worst for varying results. Yes they are repeatable but to many ...

I just sold mine that i built. I used pacemaker block huggers. Fitted well. If you use HT sump its hard to get dip stick in as it comes right under the engine mount so i used a late model BBC one that was flexable and notched the engine mount out for it to fit. Holden and range rover have opposite ...
