When you have 180 litres on board, it reads full. It will go to half way using the first 90 litres. Then it will cut over to the second tank for the second 90 litres, and then read full again...but a little green light or something comes up indicating you are on your second tank. When this reads emp...

Yes you need to make sure the sender and the gauge are matched to each other. I thought I could just use a fuel gauge I bought together with a long range tank from a Patrol that had the sender in it already. Wrong!! It read empty when it was full...and half full when empty. I bought a new gauge for ...

I am building my own hard floor camper in Toowoomba. A number of places quoted $4500+ for just the main canvas tent, no awnings. I have shopped areound and have found 2 more places that will do the main tent section for around $2000, plus a bit more for the awnings. So it pays to have a look around....

I haven't yet...but I will be in the next few weeks. I will be buying Rhino roof racks to mount onto the roof to start with. I will probably be using 25x25 RHS and will get someone to bend it for the corners. Will most likely use a number of hose clamps to hold it on unless someone knows of anything...

I took it to an auto electrician and he said in it's current configuration it will never work. He told me of a place to go that could modify it to work. So off I trundle to a place called Photo Electrics in Toowoomba. He tells me he can rewire the resistor to make it work for around $50. Or the othe...

Fuel Sender and Fuel Gauge problem
I have a secondary Long Range fuel tank that I'm installing in my Surf. The tank is home made and was previously installed in an MQ Patrol. The sender looks like it has been modified to suit the tank. I have a secondary VDO fuel gauge that I was going to hook it up to. Now when I have it all apart o...

Trailer Brakes
I am building an offroad camper trailer. I have priced a set of electric brakes, and I think it was around the $600 mark. I would like to know if anyone has grafted disc brakes from a car or 4wd onto a trailer? I know I can get electric or hydraulic brake kits including hubs and everything I need bo...

Go water to air...properly set up these are so much better than air to air. Think about this: get 2 red hot pieces of steel. Take one of them and wave it around in the air for a while. Take the other one and dunk it in a bucket of water. Which one is coolest afterwards? There's your answer....by a l...

Anyone around Toowoomba got a 1KZ-TE Prado or Hilux?
I'm looking for anyone that has the Prado or Hilux (not Surf) with the 3 litre 1KZ-TE motor that lives around Toowoomba. I have the Surf and I want to check clearance around the back of the turbo near the firewall for fitment of a 3" dump pipe. EngTek do a 3" dump pipe for the Prado and Hilux and I'...

Yeah I bought one of these for the primary purpose of re-selling it to make more $$$....which I managed to achieve. I tried it out a few times and it worked beautifully. Did not weld for too long or thick plates but it did the job and was nice and compact. As for its long term durability who would k...

I owned an 84 Bronco a few years ago with the 5.8l V8. Paid $10500 for it. Was BIG...real BIG. Was good off road to the extent you could straddle large washouts without falling into them. Mine supposedly had LSD's front and rear, but they didn't work and I didn't have a chance to check em out. I got...

heres a couple of pics of sump clearnce That doesn't look bad at all.... And that's only with a 2" body lift? quote] Umm...unless I am confused....it wouldn't make any diff if you had a 2" body lift or a 10" body lifty in terms of sump clearance. Lifting the body does not lift the motor away from t...
