Have had a chat to an auto engineer in Sydney. He sees no issue with Land Cruisers and Patrols having 35's, and is willing to consider the 4 door Wrangler for 3" and 35's.

Keep you posted.........

Lifting a JK with US arm and spring kits

Hi guys,
Got a JK 4 door CRD coming at the end of the month, and wanted to see what I can get away with legally.......

Does anyone know if the replacement arm 3"lifts are legal in Aus? Like Teraflex or Full Traction?
Are they legal post engineer report, or just not legal at all?

And while I'm ...

Yep, VNT25. New old Garrett stock.

Made for a petrol 2.2 litre 4 banger. Although it worked best from 3,000rpm up. Given fabricating a manifold is quite a job, I'm wonder if I shouldn't just pinch a turbo off a Merc Sprinter and graft that on instead?

Another reason to go the Sprinter turbo is ...

300TDi turbine exhaust housing size

Just looking to fit an old VNT in place of the stock hair dryer.

The one I have is a Garrett off a 90's Dodge. The inlet housing is the same AR as the Rover Garrett, .48.
The Dodge exhaust is .63.
The Rover exhaust is .47.

Any one know what the doifference on the exhaust side will do to the way ...

That's what I was thinking. Although there's not much I can't get waaaay cheaper from the US...... Sad really. We pay way too much for what is available globally and it has nothing to do with smaller markets. It's got more to do with us being silly enough to pay the price we're forced to.

I was going to do this, then bought a more hardcore car for offroading and the mrs has expressed a desire to be able to drive the Disco. So that means auto conversion......

I'd put a new full timing belt and pulley kit in it.

As for the head, corrosion inhibitor, new hoses, fan hub, new thermostat and a rebuilt radiator should keep it happy. Just don't ever get it hot!

Down to 59GBP each and 80GBP in freight. Total under $500AUD for a brand new pair. Aussie supplier was considerably more, plus GST + freight. These are coming from Mailorder 4x4. Paddocks also sell them at 60 nicker as well.

Vented brakes do prevent brake fade, not increase stopping power.

But you do get slotted rotors with vented rotors, which do improve stopping power. Don't think you get them with solids?

Also the 46mm piston calipers don't fit the solid rotors, which is the main reason I'm doing this.

i think graeme coopers might do a adapter kit for your solid (calipers) to fit vented discs. check there web site i think its on there

Thought about that, but the caliper still has the smaller pistons. This thing does not like stopping, so the bigger Defender calipers are necessary.

Will try ...
