Re: how to lower boost
ok, come up with a half assed idea that seems to be working, the actuator for the wastegate pushs the lever connected to the wastegate towards the dump pipe, so I put an anchor point on the dumpipe in line with the actualor rod, (exhaust clamp) and then fitted a tension spring to the wastegate arm ...

2.8 diesel had 4.3's, 3lt I think runs the 4.5's, v6 I pulled out had 4.7's, petrol 4 cyl runs 4.8's, hiace had something like 5.1's, cheers

Re: how to lower boost
why do you want to lower the boost? I think 12lb is a bit much for the higher compression of the non turbo 2.8? The motor has been fully rebuilt and has 35000kms on it, and I didn't think that much boost would give me the reliability? I will be looking at running a water/air intercooler down the ...

how to lower boost
G'day all wise ones, I have just turbo'd my 2.8 hilux, I made my own kit up using a surf manifold with a new IHI RHF5 watercooled turbo from a mazda bravo, all set up and running now but I have too much boost. The boost pressure shows the wastegate opening at right on 10lb then it drops just under ...

Re: custom turbo
yes, it's off a 2008 bravo 2.5l, only a small turbo, but looking up the specs from ihi, the 2.8l diesel looks like it sits right in the middle of it's recommended use, in regards to engine size, I will continue on, thanks fellows

Re: CT20 turbo only boosting too 3-4psi (pics)
Hows it go? It's not just a bad boost gauge by any chance? On the under/over fueling, we recently boost tested my fathers boat as it felt a bit lazy off the mark ,it had 15lb of boost on one engine, tickled the fuel up and we had it back to 30lb, off memory we only took it up about 1/4 of a turn, I ...

Re: suspension setup ln106r??????
I'm with yuri, suspension won't mke 35's fit, becuse it still gets pushed up under compression, body lift will help, but the worst problem with the lux is the tyres will hit the bck of the wheel aches when turning, worse if flexing ect, the only wy to fit 35's without rubbing is to move the diff ...

Re: high steer rod hits sump
ok,,, I don't understand how extending the bump stops will not limit the flex? At the moment I can flex until one side contacts the bump stop and the other side fully extends the shock? the transfer I was offered is a later model than that, so yes, I would need the top shift conversion if I don't ...

Re: high steer rod hits sump
thanks brad, I wanted to steer away from extending the bump stops if i could as it basically only shortens the suspension flex back, I spent enough getting it to flex, don't want to cut it back now, and thats why the high steer went in in the first place, after a day to think a bit I have picked up ...
