GU rear axle question

Does anyone know the differences in GU rear axles. I think I have a series 1 (same diff centre as GQ) semi-floating diff. But the auto wrecker keeps asking if its petrol of deisel. Does it matter??

GQ/GU drive sharft sizes

I made the mistake of thinking that all GQ and GU's (wagon) had the same drive shafts. Does anyone know how many different sizes there are? Do the smaller ones fail if you put more hp through them?

GU front wheel bearings

Is there an easy way to tell (without pulling the hub apart) what wheel bearings are in the front of a GU? I am not sure what model/year the diff is out of but I think it is pre ABS.

Many $ later in fuel but home to Kiama with out problem. Thanks Hobzee and Rudy, always a good event. Arn't they all! Very happy with the truck on its first real drive. Did have a minor (pain in the ass problem) on the night stage. Hey Ruffy - we were one of the ones that cut and run. Wasn't meant a...

Thanks all. Have fixed the problem - my fault. Its been a long project. When I fitted the calipers I fitted them to the wrong sides. That left the bleed nipple on the bottom, not on top.

Brake question

I'm having trouble with bleading the brakes. I have installed GU diff's and brakes in my GQ (not that I think that should matter) and having trouble getting pressure on the peddle. It will pump up and from the fluid dropping in the resivour I think its the front pumping up. If it sits for a few mome...

I've driven the truck down to Vic for quite a few Navruns over the last 3 years and always have a great time. Hobbzie, Rememebr we discussed at the OBC - give the Canberra area a go. Some good area around there (sort of in the middle) to attact Vic boys, NSW and ACT newbies (maybe a bit far for the ...

Interest in flares

I have been watching this with interest as I am in the same situation. Have repaired the existing flares so many times it no longer funny and after the last outing (OBC) I don't really have enough bits to put the rear ones back together.
Has there been any progress?

I run an MSII V2 with EDIS and ford coil packs to replace the distributor. If you're happy to do the work yourself and to look for a good price given the Aut$ you can get away with it for approx 5k (new 4.6 short motor and other parts). I installed a 4.6 short motor using old heads and carbies. Fuel use still high but better than old motor. Very happy with low down torque ...

Another one of those steering issues

When I back off the power it pulls to the right - when on the gas it pulls to the left. As with most RR problems I'm sure someone will have experienced this before?
