when i still got em (now i'm using gen2 hubs and axle), i always set it to free when i'm not in 4wd mode. by engaging it to lock, you also force the drive shafts to unnecessary movements and introduce unnecessary wear to them. imho, i don't think its the free wheeling hubs that's making the noise ...

i brought her to a nearby 'playground' and test the 4wd system. everything works great so far. just that, the low gears aren't low enough..oh boy.

you really got very sharp eyes mate.. yeah, i already put a couple of thick washers on the UCAs bolts but i think i need to change to longer bolts to fit a couple more washers in there.

she's a working progress.

last saturday evening i went to visit one of our property..a 20acre land. about 10yrs ago, it was a hilly ground and now 'someone' had it leveled. but anyway, i got these pictures when i was there.

she recently had a conversion from a 3.5 V6 complete drivetrain.

your suggestion is very worthwhile doing glen. i might just do that. i do remember clearly that the rear axle i got was marked v26 4m40. i did put the gear in 4wd mode and drove it on the pavement for few meters. no weird noise or the car hesitated ...

what should you be expecting if you got them wrong? any distinct noise or signs?

If you find the brake pedal a bit soft Iwan, you may find the flex hoses are stretching under brake pressure. They only expand a small amount but over the whole vehicle it can add up to a bad pedal, better to run hard lines where you can.

I cleaned out a tank once by removing filling (5 liters or so) degreaser and kerosine mix and a length of chain (to agitae the mix) drove aroud with it in the back of a ute for a few days .. the stuff that came out was pretty rotten .. but the tank was nice and clean.

I washed it out serveral ...

oh yes. those brake lines are clamp down and the handbrake cables are tied down where they're supposed to be. i took the picture when things are not done yet.

we installed the new axle today, re-check the wiring and tidying up the interior.

Hope the material your torsion bars are made out of are suitable to be welded and you didnt loose all your spring rate by welding them and gettin em hot.

okay boys..here's some updates.

everything that is need to be done in the engine bay is almost done..just pending air-cond hoses. engine is started..it idles great and sounds great too. i'll put my comments based on pictures.

just can't believe my eyes you did this to a LWB something new to see here. imho, i think you should reserved 5-6" before the pillar to make a nice and proportional looking cab. it seems too short for a LWB chop. just my 2 cents.

just got back from 5day holiday to lombok island, indonesia. lots to see..lots to explore. just got back home today.
