I was going to mention the dizzy, but only after other options were exhausted. You see, I have read far too many threads of people opening their Feroza's dizzy only to have it all jump apart and fly in all directions - and we all know how easy parts are to come by ;)

When it cuts out do the instrument lights come on like its stalled, or does it loose all power (electrical)?

I would be checking for loose plugs to the ECU (passenger kick-panel), loose fuses/relays, and going over the wiring loom around the engine looking for any obvious signs of chafing/damage ...

I bought my Feroza with "Gearbox issues", after getting it home and some quick tests it was found to be the transfer - pulled it apart and, well, the pre-rebuild picture tells the story - the chain had snapped and luckily jammed itself tight against the plastic oil-distribution tube.

Unless your ...

It's awkward but doable - holding the bellhousing and rear extension housing of transfer your arms are pretty outstretched, and your walk reduced to an odd penguin step.

Mine was made difficult by being non-standard height, and the cheapest trolley jacks don't lift high enough - 2000kg ones give an extra 10-13cm or so in lift which helps.

If you try to unbolt transfer from gearbox, the upper most bolt, facing forwards (visible from engine bay) is bloody hard to get ...

The gearbox and transfer together are like 4-5 foot long, and pretty darn heavy. I would recommend 2-3 people, two can do it but an extra for passing tools is nice.

I modified my 2t trolley jack into a temporary gearbox lift, which definitely helped, as it ...

With my transfer case (Feroza) I'm amazed how damaged they can be and still operate, though after some TLC (my backyward rebuild) it's good as new.

When I had it apart, and manually shifted from 2H>4H the main centre bearings just fell out (no end supports once disassembed) which gave 1" of slop ...

I would pop the lid off your TPS (Throttle Position sensor) and see if its adjusted correct - don't make adjustments until you know how it works, its basicially just two switches in the form of skinny contacts.

Are you running water or coolant? Coolant can help when leak hunting, it shines up nicely when lit with a torch etc (probably moreso if you have access to a UV Torch/lamp) and when it dries it leaves a green residue that you can follow back to the source of the leak.

When I have a leak that I can't ...

America has something similar (and a heck of a lot cheaper), Seafoam. You put a 1/3 in the fuel, 1/3 in the oil and the remaining goes in via a vacuum hose. More info here

Here we have Subaru's "Upper Engine Cleaner" - but unsure if its diesel compatible - it should be, since they have diesels too.

@ Gwagensteve -

It is said that temperature-related warning LIGHTS only come on at ridiculous levels (aka melting), at-least with gauges they're either working or not - confirmable visually, whereas warning lights - is it really not overheating or is the globe blown?
