Unbolt it from the car, clean out all the previou solder.

Then solder it on it's side just like you do the plug at the other end. You will see when all the old solder is gone the reduction in the top of the base.

Makes sense in my head as I type....

I have had both on my Highmount.

Heavy GQ Wagon.

Only time you notice the difference is under extreme load, ie dead car on the back.

I would run what it has until you need to change.

I ran them in 15 x 8 for a couple of years. Some key differences to weld in ones.

Nutserts,

32 bolts.

Mine never leaked.

Just bought the wife a dsg VW Jetta TDi to replace a V8 Discovery Auto as the family run around. Didn't need 4 4WD wagons.

Awesome gearbox. Sports mode is all you need. Full manual is redundant in a road diesel.
