Re: Lift laws

I know in Victoria a 2 inch cab lift is allowed and 2 inch Suspension lift, well that's what I was told when consulting an engineer. Best thing to do would be to phone the local Authorities. Vicroads couldn't care less along as an engineer signs off on it

Not sure if has been covered before or posted before but http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/vsb_ncop.aspx Vehicles standards, covers pretty much everything, a Vicroads approved engineer put me only it to have a look through for my engine swap, just thought it may be ...

How much torque?

As the title suggests, after anyone who knows how much torque a hilux v6 centre with solid pinion spacer, powertrax lockers (USA ones) and aftermarket C&P setup would be able to handle? Thinking about a v8 in my rn46 hilux with 35's for offroad stuff and 31's on the road so won't matter so much on ...

2.5" should be ok for Mandrel bent and 3" for Press bent.
As Feass says, the quicker you can get the exhaust gas moving the better, but if the pipe is too big it cools quicker and because slower to exit the system

The v6 hilux/ surf have the strongest centres (though it is mainly the bearings) As for that there is aftermarket gear sets you can put into the centres wich will improve it but as said the centres themselves are not usually a problem, usually poor driving skills and way too much throttle. Diff ...

So something like a RN85 body wont fit? Like moving the mounts to accomodate it, or would it just be way too wide or long? It can be done. As far as i remember you only need to modify the front mounts. Thanks mate, can anyone else confirm this? I know my model is fairly narrow compared to others ...

What cabin will fit a rn46 chassis?

As the title states, am wondering what will bolt onto my chassis? The wiring is basically shot in it and the roof is pretty well screwed so would be nice to upgrade. Just a single cab petrol. Any help or info will be greatly appreciated.

Best shocks for under $800?

As the post says, I am looking for the best shocks to suit a EFS 2 inch lift kit in a 1980 4x4 petrol hilux, it is leafs all around, I tow with it but mainly for the bush, see's a few corragated dirt roads so after something reasonably comfortable that can handle a bit of a beating.

Stronger hilux centre?

As the topic asks, is there a way to make the diff centres/crown and pinion stronger in a hilux diff? Or are there stronger ones on the market? The centre is normally where the problem is I heard so just wondering is there is a viable upgrade of sorts?

I imagine they would be, I have a 90's HiAce housing in my drag car and using the centre from a very early hilux in it. But that's based on what I did, so newer stuff might be different so I'll leave it up to someone with more knowledge

Yeah I will don't worry Seth. Yeah I was looking at the EFS earlier aswell, was thinking using just the leafs and maybe different shocks like Bilsteins or Tough dogs or Procomps, lovells etc something like that, or am I better off staying with all EFS? Should I invest in 2" shackles or similar ...

Few questions regarding suspensions

Hi all, new to the forum, have searched a fair but nothing really what I'm after. I have a 1980 rn46 4x4 18r (Thinking of ugrading to 302w soon), currently running 31x10.5 15s and thinking of running 33x12.5 bighorns or mudzillas when and if it ever rains. I use it to tow from time to time and use ...
