Re: intercoolers

Stay away from ADC, biggest rip off con artist around. I ordered an intercooler and a trans oil cooler, got one that was supposed to be custom made to my measurements, was actually an off the shelf item no where near what i asked for. Took a bit but got my $ back.

I drove 2 hours each way to meet ...

Re: Any details on new model 200's ?

Spoke to a bloke who got one 3 weeks ago, he said the dealer was telling him that they're bringing a V6 engine to replace the V8. I have searched and not found anything, so think it is hocus pocus.

Any RTV silicone, as long as it's oil resistant. For grease, use molybdenum(sp), also called CV grease. Grey/black sticky stuff

Re: 1KD Carbon Deposits in Intake

Do you check oil pickup screen every oil change?

The d4d motors have a major problem with the injector seals starting to fail causing carbon in the oil and blocking the pickup

Look out for smoke on cold startup and rattle when cold, there will be no loss of power, no extra fuel consumption but if ...

Re: Swivel hub rebuilt

Use CV grease or Molybdenum(black sticky shit) for the swivel hubs and CV joints, and obviously wheel bearing grease for the wheel bearings.

Have you done them before? Take note of what order the steel, rubber and felt come off the back of the swivel hub.

I've done heaps of cruiser ones but not ...

HJ45 transfer parts

Anyone know who carries spares for these old girls.

Got to find the washer that goes between the bearing and high speed gear on the front output shaft. A workshop rebuilt it years ago and the owner didn't take it back.

The rear output shaft moves backwards and forwards about 6mm, because with the ...

Re: TD42 injector pump issue

Have you looked at the sieve at the inlet to the pump? They get clogged with shit.

I've always pulled them out on every rig, undo the inlet to the pump, use an o-ring pick or something similar and pull it out. If it is clogged, whatever got through the filters will go through the injectors, unless ...

Re: Runva 10,000lb Hydraulic Winch Install

Just spoke to the old man, who is a long term cummins agent and where the engine is for my rig, he says the hydraulic pump is driven of the twin piston air compressor and it can be a variable flow type, he mentioned Vickers brand. Will be doing some research on them now. Apparently my engine, was ...

Re: Runva 10,000lb Hydraulic Winch Install

Bit of a grave dig. Great info in this thread.
Looking at getting one of the Runva 15K hydraulic winches for my Oka. Got plenty of room for a decent size tank, just need to work out which pump to use, and where, if possible to mount it on a 6.7L Cummins that's going in it shortly.

Just had a quick ...

Re: Stat write off parts

I used to work in a wreckers here in the NT and with a Stat write off, you can use EVERYTHING from the vehicle EXCEPT for the chassis.

We had brand new cars that were stolen from the stevedores that were stat write offs and couldn't be registered here in Oz ever, but all parts including the engines ...

Re: Swivel Hub Rebuild Kit Problems.....

Not sure about the Hilux's, can't remember, but the cruisers differ in brass bushes at the back of the spindle, did you change them out too?

If you did it might be the difference of a couple of mm, not letting the CV come out enough.

The 75 series bush is just a bush, the 79's have roller bearing ...

Re: Disposable Argonsheild bottles

I've used the disposable SIP bottles, they only last about 5-10 mins. Not worth the expense at all. There is a mob somewhere, that sell the bottles outright and then you just pay for refills, Speed Gas comes to mind.

Re: What mods can you have in the NT ?

I took a cut down dual cab 100 series in to get regoed for my boss, plus it had a 800mm chassis extension and it was all mod plated in Qld, passed no worries.

I also asked about an x-link for my GU and they said it would need TAC approval.

The inspector said if it is already engineered/mod plated ...

Is the circlip really needed?

All my cruisers have been 2nd hand, and none of them have had the circlip in, so I didn't bother either and never had a problem. I do put a front hub kit through my cruiser every 18 months to 2 years. I also rip the cv's out every 6 months to repack with grease along ...

One more thing, there is also at least 2 different types of brass bush that fit into the back of the spindles, if the wrong one has been used it also won't go in, found that out the hard way once. 79 series ones have roller bearings and the 75's don't, pretty sure about that too, been a while

CV's

How much did they charge you for the CV kit, as it can be just the felts, rubbers and steels for the knuckle, or it could've been new cv's.

I've worked on a 79 series which was converted to full time 4wd, and when they wanted to change it back we had to get new, shorter CV's.

I've done quite a few ...

If they replaced the CV's, they may have replaced them with ones from a full time 4wd model, like an 80 series, as long as the spline count is the same. CV's from full time 4wd models are longer than from part time models.
