Hilux Diffs Pros and Cons

Been looking at the bible for the hilux diffs in sierras, and it doesnt really answer my question. My mate rolled his 2003 Hilux the other month, and bought it back off the insurance company. He has airlockers fitted into both diffs. My mechanic tells my both my current diff centers are in pretty ...

Engineering

Got the paperwork back from the MVR (Motor Vehicle Registry) yesterday, They tell me that because my car has a total overall lift of 156mm, its 56mm outside the limit and thus has to be engineered. I believe the engineering work up here costs around $1700, so it leaves me with 2 options. 1) get a ...

Gearing

Looking at reducing the gearing of my sierra, and the bible doesn't really answer what i'm talking about just wondering the advantages/disadvantages of the different methods of doing it, Changing gears in the gearbox, transfer case, or diffs. The car is running 31" tyres and rockcrawling is nearly ...

Shock Absorbers

Had a talk to the local Suspension shop the other day, after telling him i was after more wheel articulation, and didnt mind losing some lift from the car, he recommended turning the load leaf upside down on the rear of the car, and removing the bottom leafs on all four corners. He also recommended ...

I'm pretty sure the chassis and diffs are w/t, if anything i'd assume its a n/t body, another reason why the tyres stick so far out of the body.

Will look further into it when i get the car back tomorrow.

welding the bar accross the chassis is illegal and just a bad idea too. :? Really? thanks, i thought it would a) be legal and b) be stronger than normal lift blocks Well, next idea is to cut out the mount points on the body, and weld some new metal into those spots (to strengthen the areas) and ...

Thanks for the replies. The guy at the Suspension center showed me a whole new problem with the car - I took him in to fix up the body lift (the centerline lift blocks were slightly off where they were supposed to sit on the chassis and it was missing some other blocks) and he tells me he's stumped ...
