Cool, might give it a go when I'm feeling motivated/annoyed.
If that doesn't last long, could try the same process with teflon spray. It's supposed to be a bit more durable I think.

Re: Slow electric windows
At work we use silicone grease for lubricating (and sealing) rubber plugs. Typically would be used on o-rings for waterproof housings etc. Safe to use on rubber. It's a white paste. Might transfer to the window though.
Perhaps some judicious use of some plain old silicone spray?

I pretty sure the box locks up in 4th and 3rd. Not sure about second, and I have my doubts about 1st. But you never know!

Does anyone know whether it's possible to lockup the torque converter in 1st gear?

Umm, struggling to remember what it looked like. Took the prop-shaft out for a look-see, but then got the shop down the road to replace the seal.
Doesn't the guard come away with the prop-shaft, as in, it's joined on to the back of the uj?

Rod knock in my 3.5?
After a solid mud-slinging session, seems like my 3.5 V6 has developed what sounds like a bit of rod knock. Well, that's what it sounds like to me. I guess I'll get a professional ear to it, see what they think. A main bearing perhaps? Or could it be in the top of the engine? Doesn't sound like ...

Re: Project Pajero
Quick check of the PCV system perhaps? Unlikely to cause smoke, but perhaps all the oil in the plenum is coming via the PCV, then getting burnt?

Also, presume it takes regular hypoid gear oil?

Re: 3.5 litre into a 3.0?
I'd say the easiest and cheapest way of swapping would be to whip your steering wheel off, get a 3.5 pajero, pop the steering wheel back on in there. Hey presto, 3.5! It's a 'whole vehicle swap', it's all the rage these days...

Sorry, let me reword:

Loosened off the cable. The throttle is definitely 100% closed.
With the brown connector grounded, and the engine running, turned the idle screw all the way in (closed ...

I've had the throttle body off again, and re-cleaned to make sure.
Backed the speed adjust screw out until the butterfly was completely closed.
Refitted, grounded the brown plug.
Started up, ran up to temperature (and then some).

Oil leak, probably rear main seal?
Folks,
I've got a leak out bottom of the bellhousing on my 3.5 pajero. Presume this is probably rear main seal? It's a steady drip when the vehicle is running, and does seem to be getting worse... Does keep the underside of the truck quite rust-free though!
