Re: Strange clutch issues (PICS)

Gday all, The Thrust bearing was fine, replaced it though. I have just finished re-installing the gearbox and new clutch, it all went together pretty well. I have an issue though, when i put the slave cylinder on, it automatically pushes hard on the fork, therefore pushing the thrust bearing hard up ...

Yep, the clutch was working and didn't appear to be slipping or anything...

The thrust bearing is fine

Apart from the damage, it all looks in pretty good nick, still plenty of meat on the disc etc.

I have a new clutch kit, the plate looks the same as the new one.

Strange clutch issues (PICS)

Below are some photos of my clutch that i pulled out of my '86 Landcruiser BJ74. The clutch has always been funny (activated at about 1 inch from the floor). I have replaced the master cylinder and the slave cylinder to no avail. So i pulled the gearbox (off for a rebuild) and found this: http ...

Oil leaks - diff and hub

Gday all,

I have these two oil leaks in the rear of my '86 BJ74...
Any help? Is it just a matter of replacing a pinion seal and gasket? or maybe an axle seal too?

pump

Thanks. I pulled a vac line off the pump and straight away got around 25in/Hg. So i think it's fine Then i pulled off the vac line to the booster and heard the 'psst' of the vac and plugged my meter in. It SLOWLY rose to the same level as the pump. (or just under) I also found that there is a sensor ...

Tanks for that, the clutch feels the same as normal.

Brake issues, Vacuum?

Gday all, Another problem arising from my weekend away... The brakes are not working well. After continued use into the camping location, the brake light came on on the dash and the brake pedal went hard and the brakes barely worked. After putting up with it throughout the weekend, i figured it was ...

Yeah, after further investigation, the pulley is OK, ill see if i can get a replacement bearing. The pulley must be harder than the bracket it mounts upon, because it has dug out a chunk in the bracket!

ill get pic for ya soon

Broken tensioner

Gday all, After my weekend away 4wd'ing, (in my '86 BJ74, 13BT) there was a strange 'whiney' noise coming from my engine. After washing all the dirt off, i found the tensioner pulley for the power steering had sort of buckled to one side an was on an angle. The belt is half worn away and i dont know ...

BJ74 Clutch Issues

Gday all, One of the problems with mt new '86 BJ74 13b-t is the clutch... It works OK, but doesnt activate until about 70% of the way to the floor, it has Massive freeplay before anything happens and then it all happens in about 2cm. Because of this (i think), it crunches into reverse sometimes, and ...
