my gu td42t that is in my gq, runs about 79c to 85c on average. Thermostat on this engine opens at 84 and is fully open at 95. the most i have ever seen mine go is 110c on a 38 degree day on stockton beach giving heaps to see how hot it got. i just replaced my 2.8 gq for a td42t out of gu.
engine mount on drivers side about 12mm further out and 40mm further back towards firewall (thats if eng. mounts on rd28t and rd28ti are the same)
gear levers in the GU's are set a bit further back, so some modding will need to be done there.

Are 2.8 GQ and 2.8 GU gearbox's interchangeable???

i know that when i put the 4.2GU box in my GQ the gear levers were a bit further back on the box, is this the same case with the 2.8?? and is this the only thing different??
any help would be great

got a spare pair of axle assemblies (including diff centres) from a gq. Front is open and factory lsd in the rear. Just wanna know what a fair price is to sell them for. 4.625 ratio

yea my free wheeling hubs did that a while ago. Picked up a 2nd hand set of avm hubs for 20 bucks just to make sure that was the problem before throwing a couple hundred at some 2nd hand nissan ones. All good now though

its about having more power than i have now from my 2.8. I dont want to do wheelies down the freeway i just want to be able to drive it comfortably Wanting to do this conversion cos it is the quickest easiest and cheapest option. Not only that but i bought a nissan for a reason.

the plan (hopefully) is to run the tb45 box and transfer out of a gq and bolt the 4.5gu motor up to it. does anyone know of any problems doin this

looks alright and would certainly go good but completely inpractical if you wanna use it for what it was designed.
intercooler would not be protected by bullbar and get torn off, tyres would rip the piping out and air filter would be drowned in the first puddle.

got the engine, no gearbox as yet.

does anyone know if engine mounts are the same?, Gbox mounts are the same?
