Re: 31's on a vitara

That model is usually referred to as a Grand Vitara. From what I have read 225/75/16 will fit standard with no rubbing, 245/75/16 will fit with a lift but do rub slightly. There are very few aftermarket rims that will fit due to lack of brake caliper clearance. Not true....... I have a GV and yes ...

To reduce the timing chain / lifter noise make sure you use the correct grade of oil and a genuine Suzuki oil filter.........

My GV was noisy until I started using the factory filter. Nice and quiet now.

I have a GV also and have experianced very similar problems. Several things can cause this Weird handeling. First thing is check rear Panhard bushes, If they are flogged out it allows the rear diff to walk about. very comon if you have a panhard relocation bracket. Up front check the inner steering ...

Re: Bought my first zuk a 2001 GV 2.5L V6 AT, need advice

I own a 1999 SQ625 GV and ive built it up to run 31x10.5R16 Silverstone Xtremes. Ive had to basically go at this on my own as there are almost no others out there that have done it... I run 225/75/16 and they measure the same diaas your 245/70/16. Just not as wide. They just touch the chasis on full lock under compression. The next tyres i will be getting will be 245/75/16.

Re: biggest tyre for XL7

If you remove your mud flaps and trim away some plastic inside the wheel arch you can fit 245/75/16. They will rub slightly on the front on full lock but that can be adjusted out with steering stops.

There are a few know probl;ems with the front diff in the GV. The vac opperated locking system can "skip" a tooth when under high load and cause a Banging noise. webers work well if you put in the time to tune them correctly. Not many carby places know how to make them work for the bush so its mostly DYI. Re: i keep bending drag links! wt sierra

I bent one in my sierra and i wasnt even trying to do anything stupid. The original ones were made of a heavy wall tube. New replacement ones are alot thinner and bend really easy. Not sure what ones you have been using.

Sleeving it or welding on some 40mm angle would not do it any harm.

Re: coily vs leaf

RUF can be used for more than just extending the wheelbase. I did it to soften up the ride. Plus an added benifit is longer springs flex better giving more articulation. Noteveryone is as confident with a welder so chasis extension is not always an option.

Re: coily vs leaf

If you redrill the rear mount for the front springs (25mm back and 10mm up) and run a longer shackle you can. But drilling the mount may not be legal. Doing it this way will leave the diff in its stock position.

You can run the standard sierra booster and fit a subi forrester master. This is already set for disc rear and has a 1 1/18 bore. sierra only has a 7/8 bore. the only thing you need to do is get the booster pushrod the right length and bend the brakelines into the right positions.
