Re: 80 Series Front Diff Side Gears

BUMP!

Sorry to bring it up again, but I was going to use my time off over Easter to look around at some parts or spare diffs for other models (Pretty sure I have a pair of 60 series diffs at home), so any knowledge would be appreciated.

Re: 80 Series Front Diff Side Gears

Yeah it's constant 4wd. I have definitely considered the locker option. it might be abit $$$, and I am not sure if I would rather front or rear, it appears to be a great debate. I guess 1 locker is better than no lockers, and I did try 'shimming' up my rear LSD when I did the bearings in that.

80 Series Front Diff Side Gears

Hi guys, Over Christmas I had the front drive splines wear out on my Cruiser. I ended up replacing then with newer ones with longer splines and no wear from a wrecker. When I took the diff out to install the new axles (and inspected as we had initially thought the diff had gone) I noticed that the ...

Re: Auto antennae for 80 series

I ended up having to buy a second repair manual cause mine showed the wires in a certain colour, but didn't match what was there. The Gregories one is the one I used, and yes the wiring changes, I think in 1993 and 1995 with the updates. Basically what I did was use the diagram to trace the wires ...

Re: Auto antennae for 80 series

I have spend some time playing around with the wires aswell to no avail. I couldn't choose which wire to power the antenna ECU off and just decided against it in fear of blowing it up. So i just bypassed a the ECU so I can use the Up/Down buttons. It would be great to get it to auto go up and down ...

Re: Best 4wd to buy??

I would love to get a 105 with an 1HD-FTE. But unfortunatly they don't come out of the box like that, and I have none of the pieces to build one :'(. I'm torn as to sell my 80 and go 105, purely as mine is starting to get those maintenance niggles, and a newer car with less kms sounds like a good ...

Dash Globes - 80 Series

Hi, I was wondering if people knew where I might get some replacement dash globes for my 80 Series. I dropped by Toyota a while back to get a price, just as a base mark, and they wanted around $10 per globe. Since I need about 8 or so in most of the buttons, plus a couple in the instrument panel, I ...

1FZ-ZE Air Con Idle Up and Cold Idle adjustment

I recently swapped in a new 1FZ into my 80 series after the original one did the head. It's been running great with no dramas. However, compared to my old motor, the new one seems to rev up alot when I put the air conditioner on. Normally I wouldn't mind, but it's very noticeable for example if ...

Re: 80 Series Factory Cruise Control

Ok, so I finally got a hold of the 4 pin brake sensor. With the Cruise ECU plugged in and on petrol, the engine still cuts power at 2200rpm. Also I noticed the OverDrive light on the dash begins to flash. Unplug the Cruise ECU unpluged, back to normal. I did a part number search and it appears I ...

I think it came from a 96. I have a 93. I have installed the control arm, plug and play. Installed the ECU, plag and play and installed the actuator under the bonnet, again plugs straight in.

80 Series Factory Cruise Control

I recently bought a factory cruise control after I got sick of replacing the magnets on the aftermarket model it came with. I haven't managed to get it to work yet, but after looking around some forums I suspect a good place to start is a 4-Pin Brake Sensor. I assume mine is the 2 pin version, as it ...

Thanks. That was pretty much my plan. I just wanted to see what it looked like and to get an indication of length and width I should go. Could I get a pic of how you have connected them, and how to mount the plate. I'd still be keen to see some others if people dont mind posting :D

80 Series Mudflaps

Hi Guys, Yet again I managed to tear of another mudflap on my 80 series. I think so far I have managed to tear all of them off at some point. However, this time I actually lost the flap, so I can't just re attach it like I normally do. Rather than buying a new one, to be torn off next time I go out ...

That was the reason and you do have a point. It was more a safety feature. Your right, if I need diff lock, the antenna should be down already. but it was just a matter of, if its not...then it will be.

Re: 80 Series Auto Antenna

From memory, the wiring diagram shows the same questionable wires going to either CD Player, Non-CD Player as well as the amp. So I assume it's common actoss the models. Maybe if I listed the wires in question, and the pins on the ECU/Relay end, somebody could test which of the 4 wires has power ...

Re: 80 Series Auto Antenna

So I went and bought another Repair Manual that has the later model wiring diagram. I have traced and tested all the wires and they are all where they should be. I am left with 4 wires at the head unit that go back to the ECU. I'm guessing 1 or more of there is going to tell the ECU when the radio ...

Re: 80 Series Auto Antenna

So I started tracing the wires last night and this morning after pulling the dash apart. Here is what I have found. My switch uses 4 pins (+2 for the light globes) they are Blue-Yellow, Blue, Blue-White, and White-Black. I suspect that the B-Y and B wires are the L and L-Y (L=Light Blue, so close ...

Re: 98 80series 1fzfe has no oxy senors why or cat ???

I'm not too sure. As far as I can work out my 1993 has one O2 Sensor before the Cat, and that is all. I was looking to get a new exhaust, but the ones I have seen do not have cats. Does anyone know why or am I missing something? I thought all cars post 1986 or what ever it was had to have cats?

Re: 80 Series Auto Antenna

Cheers, Yeah I understand that it's more of an ECU, but I has Relay written on it, so I din't want to confuse people. It is about the size of a packet of cigarettes. Cheers, Yeah I think the antenna I have has the auto functionality (two plugs), but the switch is just an up/down. I thought this would still work, with no auto function. Looking at the wiring diagram I initially thought it should work with just the switch, and no relay. However that was not the ...

Hi, So I want to put an electric antenna into my 80 series. It currently has a snapped non power one. I have looked at the wiring diagram in the book and I can ...

I had my fuel tank warning light come on in the bush one day after a stick got wedged up above the tank and pulled the plugs out. So if you have 5 mins, might be worth checking if the plugs are all good - maybe they are full of mud?

I have not had a computer plugged in. I checked the fault codes a while ago (after it started happening) but nothing was coming up. Initially I suspected oxygen sensor, but not too sure. As I said, I have replaced the AFM in the last 12 months, and the lpg NEVER backfires, so it should be fine.

Gee I really hope its not the AFM, I just replaced that last year at 600 for a swap over. I'm pretty sure its not the air flow meter - i could be wrong, but I have found if it does't work, then the motor shuts off. how easy is it to check fuel pressure?
