No, you can do it differently. This is the way i do it, got it down to 45min in the bush... and i would recommend it this way

the other way i know of is the way Yarno said. which u'd probably loose a fair bit of diff oil, and will be a pain, especially if u gotta do it in the bush.

I have changed about 10 of them on my Mu in the bush, here is a quick run down of my method

-remove wheel, and locking hub.
-remove cir-clip from CV, inside the hub.
-undo the one nut on the bottom of the upper A-arm (use a small club hammer to separate the ball joint from the wish bone)( don't ...
