Re: Water to air intercoolers

Hey sorry guys, it has been on the back burner. I have been flat out trying to meet other impossible deadlines. The kits for the 80series are great, lots of room. But the 75series I have run into dramas with mounting the heat exchanger, there just aint much room. I am guessing that a lot of you guys ...

Re: Water to air intercoolers

Hi guys, sorry to the late reply to those of you who have contacted me. I have been totally swamped with work at the moment. I am hoping to spend some time over the xmas break getting these intercoolers happening. The set up is working great under all conditions we have been able to throw at it, now ...

Re: Water to air intercoolers

We have wound the boost up to 15psi for more testing and it is going great. EGT's are still in the low 400's I just need to get it on the dyno to confirm % power gain, but the 'ol seat of the pants' tells us this cooler has made a huge difference! More hours in the day would be great, a constant ...

Re: Water to air intercoolers

Just a quick update, The pumps arrived and we set the system up. Mounting location for the exchanger on the 75 series is still something i am working on. for the moment we just have an old exchanger mounted in front of the grill and behind the bull bar. We have driven it around all week to monitor ...

Re: Hilux 3RZ Engine Conversion

Mine did the same thing, i used a wiring diagram i got of here somewhere. Turns out that the blue and red wire to power the air flow meter had to be in a different pin out position to the diagram i was using. with a test light check that there is actually power at the air flow meter.

I run 2.5 mandrel bent on my non turbo 3rz and it works well. A 2.5 press bent will be a limiting factor with your setup. How much you looking at spending? I can do you a good price if you like...

I have just finished a power steering conversion this week on an fj40, I used a late model column too, which really helps creature comfits like adjustable height and not having the steering wheel up in your face. I am on the gold coast and the truck will be in my shop for another two weeks if you ...

Re: Water to air intercoolers

Looks good Luke. I'm in the middle of sorting something in between yours and Zoltans with a larger core about the size of Zoltans 2. Not pulling you down but my concern too was the size of the core as I was originally modding a Suburu unit but didn't like how it fitted. When quoting stuff like ...

Just wondering if any of you guys have bought the replacement shims, can I only get them from toyota and how much are they?

Yeah Ed i can do it to suit your needs, I think there will be a few guys wanting to rear mount. The exchanger with fan on the side of the bar work tray is becoming a bit of a trend.... Re: 1hz replace ex manifold gasket.. will i break studs?

Just a tip for removing the manifold (before breaking any studs) The way I always do them, 1st wire brush all the exposed threads clean, spray with inox. If you haven't got a rattle gun, with a breaker bar and rubber mallet crack each stud just about 10 deg, don't take them out all the way out one ...

Re: Water to air intercoolers

On the 75 series room is very tight so a fan may have to go on the front of the exchanger with some grill mods. On the 80 series is no probs.

We are still waiting on the pumps to show up from USA.

Ill know a price in the next few days, got pumps coming from USA, just trying to fit the heat exchanger, the 75 series are pretty tight with all the air con gear up front.

My plan it to sell complete kits for around $1300

Re: Water to air intercoolers

Looks good, is topping up the oil hard? The test I have done for the core I have used showed great results. These little cores will actually flow and keep cool about 500hp worth of air flow. And no lag But yeah will definitely do a bigger one for high boost set ups like yours. How much power are you ...

Just finished this, it bolts up to the 1hz and 1hd-t I'll sort out the exchanger, pump, pressure relief resivoir next and should have complete kits or just the coolers for sale soon, once I have done some more testing. http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm60/turboshop/7903eda4.jpg http://i293 ...

Thanks mate, I do quite a few of them, the practice helps. That one was for a skyline that made 500rwhp. I still had to put 2 more runners in there, but have to weld the bit you wont be able to get to once the next runner prevents access as you go. As a few people have said, neat welds on flat ...

You can acctually do it just with a 10mm sandwich plate. But IMO get a complete custom steam pipe manifold, it will be the best money you ever spent. The stock manifold are very restrictive and
the expansion joint in them is prone to leaking

Most exhaust shops won't press bend anything over 2.5inch so if you want to go 3inch you usually have to go mandrel. I fabricated a 3inch mandrel bent system for a turbo 1hz which had a 2.5 inch press system before and the improvments were quite noticable, especially when towing. If you do anything ...
