Re: Cheap daily drive tyres?

No recommendation to give, but be wary of some of the cheap chine#se tyres, i had a set in this size and they were truly awful. Would go out of round every night when parked, ie; like driving on square tyres until they warmed up, couldn't get rid of them quick enough ;)

Re: Best 33" Tyre for Heavy Troopy Q

By the sounds of things, it would be worth taking the troopy over a weigh bridge, only costs about $20 and you can get front and rear axle weights to be more accurate in the load rating on the tyre you need.

FYI there is a difference in load ratings between some AUS delivered tyres and US spec ...

Re: 35 inch tyres and prices

So did you have to pay any customs tax etc in australia? this is an area that is a bit confusing to me.

so the customs value is the tyre cost only, not including the postage cost?

someone mentioned something about a $1000 limit tax free? is this correct? so if i was to go over this limit then ...

Re: 35 inch tyres and prices

thanks for the reply, so it took about 2 mths for them to arrive? i'd be happy to wait that long:-) at the right price.

the problem i'm having is I need 315/75/16 tyres and in need them in a high load rating, about 127. I really want the Toyo Open Country MT as they have super strong sidewalls, but ...

I am very interested in this, have you actually bought some from the US of A? if so how did you do this, their pricing does not show shipping costs to australia, how much was it for your tyres? etc to ship?

thanks dave

Re: 2h white smoke on start up

Try new glow plugs, fairly inexpensive to do. I found with mine that they are very sensitve to correct valve clearance, so I'd suggest getting them checked, this eliminated all my hard starting issues along with new engine mounts and it's a different truck.:)

Re: Has anyone retrofitted aircon for one make to another?

The commodore series, VR/VS, of stretched utes that were used by ambo's had a separate unit under the rear floor that simply tapped into the original holden aircon pipes under the bonnet and ran lines to the rear allowing it to be controlled independantly. I think i still have the rear aircon setup ...

No engineers, I was happy with what I've done which is good enough for me as I'm quite fussy.
I registered it as a 10 seater at vicroads and they didn't question anything at the time. I have a car seat mount bracket with child restraint point fitted, that I bought for a 3 seater which bolts to the ...

I can't say for sure about all of them, but I have done this to my troopy. It was an original 11 seater and I bought a factory rear bench seat to fit it.

The side bench seats that I have fitted have all had the holes and nuts there to bolt up from factory. You will need the lock down plates if ...

My old 350 chev powered 45 series ran the original chev power steering pump, with the 60 series power steering box setup. Worked fine. Can't comment on the rebuild issue, of do it or don't and i'm not aware of any kits to adapt to a 2h, but shouldn't be too hard to fab up. Maybe you could try a reco ...

I need to replace the gearbox in my 75 series troopy, noisy +++. Have found a complete box and transfer case for a fair price but it used to have a vacuum operated hi/lo part fitted to the box and I don't want to buy it if it wont work.
