Re: best engine

Best engine depends on what ya budget is
Now point looking at a gen 3 conversion IF ya only wanna spend 2 or 3 K

In QLD you can legally put a carb 350 chev in an MQ/MK on LPG
Theres ,in Perth, a small block chev (350 ???)with a turbo on it in an MQ/MK SWB

Low buck conversion SD33T, they came with ...

Re: need help mk :D

Its torque that spins tyres , not HP
114 Kw as mentioned would be on a stock motor
So wack extractors, bigger carb, bigger cam some head work, bigger pistons , blah blah blah
Any of the above will improve on the factory power output
A new XR6T will give an LS1 commodore a good run
Matter of fact ...

Re: need help mk :D

114 KW
Is not 4 times more than an L28
Theres no way a carb fed 308 pulls 4 times as hard as an L28
I wouldnt expect to get any better than 25L/100Ks from a carb fed 308 /4 speed MK (4 speed MK , strange ???) on 35s
The L28s even in factor spec were bloody shockin on fuel
IF ya want an economical ...

Most that do the Xtra cab conversion use the rear wall, sill, floor section from the ute
An Xtra cab conversion is alot different to a dual cab chop
Many people do them different ways use different parts or make up parts as they go
There is no exact specific way to do it

Do a search , im sure its been a topic regarding comparing factory fan CFM of air, compared to thermo fan CFM of air
The factory fans push more than the thermos
If you have heating issues,i doubt goin to a lower CFM of air fan will fix the problem

Either way youll have to drill new holes in the rad tanks, and move the hose necks
Leave the flow of the rad how it is,just move the necks to suit, then plug up the old holes

Most of the auto troubles are from running to hot

Why not get the auto rebuilt to suit your application,

Re: Best work horse/tow ute

Breakaways are for loads over 2.5t ( i think)
Single axle breaks upto 2 tonne ,
4 wheels breaks upto 2.5t
These are trailer loads (including the trailer)
Nothin to do with the car wieght

Always overbreak the trailers
(as in the more/better breaks on the trailer the better)

The temp should drop goin down hills (more air flowing thru radiator)
