i have a 2.8l TD Daihatsu rocky. i took it out for a cruise into town one night when i got home it was running rough as guts. Would hardly idle below 700 rpm. About 1500 rpm it seems ok. the smoke is coming up between the rocker cover and the turbo. i cant really see where is it coming from. there is a very slight tsst, tsst, tsst, tsst noise coming from over that way but cant see or hear where. the smoke is bad at idle but hold it at 1800-2000 rpm and it clears up alot but still ...

have you checked engine and gearbox mounts. this can often cause it. We had problems with our Rocky gearbox. Cost $2200 to rebuild.

the mechanic reckons it will make the end of the shaft to weak and it may break. I dont see it being a problem cause we are only taking off the old thread and tapping on a new one. might loose 1mm of thickness from a 25mm shaft.
i am going to look into it if the shalf is too much.

hey guys,
my gearbox got pulled a part today and the big nut on the end of the main (primary) shaft was fully stripped. The thread on the shaft is stripped as well.
Anyone know the price of a shaft or where i can get one other than daihatsu?

yeah BundyRumandCoke, they are the standard rims. they have some 235-75R15 tyres on there now but the tyre plaquard says 255-70/15.
i was going to get the BF Goodrich A/T in the bigger size. The way i see it is the bigger the better.

Hey guys
I have a 1990 resin top rocky wagon and need some new tyres for it. Anyone got any recommendtions. It will go off-road quite a bit when i get them as the ones on there now are down to the wear bars and dont go well through sand/mud etc.
