Temp will rise if the engine is being laboured. The same used to happen on my Coaster with turboed 1HZ. Never boiled though just rose a lot higher than normal. I used to get around this by using a lower gear to keep revs around 3,000 on long hills etc. That way your not labouring it (and possibly ...

FIXED IT! -Fitted draglink kit both ends to get rid to make sure pins were centred -reversed draglink so short end was at steering arm end -loosened spring centre bolt and tapped spring leaves to make sure they were in line and as far as possible to the centre of the axle Now have about 3-4mm ...

Yeah used a flat U bolt (even tried the old one). Is the drag link supposed to run beside the spring/U bolt or above it? The new springs are the same width as the old ones just 11mm higher due to the extra leaf and probably thicker leaves I guess. I had a play around with it later this afternoon- eg ...

HELP!! Hilux LN65 Front Springs

Just changed the front springs on the young blokes Hilux. The problem is the new springs are 6 leaf vs. original 5 leaf. The height of the spring packs at the centre bolt is 45mm vs 34mm of the old ones. The problem is that now the drag link fouls the rear U bolt when you turn the wheels to the ...

Hilux front tailshaft phasing

While trying to get those bloody shackle pins out, we popped the front slip joint. If anyone could have a look at theirs (LN65) and advise on the alignment of the unis- ie the diff end and the cardon joint end- are the yokes in line or at 90deg to each other? There was a vibration in the front shaft ...

Hilux seized shackle pin

In the process of changing front leaf springs on my sons LN65. Struck a problem- the rear shackle pins are seized in the mounts where they go thru the chassis rails- bugger! The front ones were very hard to get out due to rust on the pins so I suspect the rears are stuck for the same reason. It has ...

Don't believe the stories about 1HZs having problems with aftermarket turbos. I've had 2- one with a Schwitzer non watyer cooled in a Coaster that clocked up over 400K hauling up mountains under load without any problems. The other was an 80 series with a DTS kit which I fitted (great kit by the way ...

TRD Blower for 3.4 Prado

Has anyone fitted one of these? I have seen some various fit-ups but not much detail. I know Bullet and CAPA do them but sooo expensive ($7-$8k) specially when you can get one from the US for USD$2590 so about $3k landed. Has anyone got a good price locally or bought one from the US? How is ...

Thanks for the advice guys.

Where do you get the 160 deg thermo? I can only find a Triden high flow at standard opening temp.

Thanks again

I used a VL Commodore pump in-line in a warmed over FI 5L V8 conversion I did and it worked treat. Did not use a lfit pump and simple to figure out installation and pretty cheap too.

'85 Hilux 2L-some questions from a newbie

Hi All, My young bloke just got a Hilux. We are in the process of checking it over and fixing a few things as we go. Just a couple of questions: 1. Is there a thermostat that opens earlier than the standard one which starts opening at 88-90 deg? 2. What basic improvements will get a little more out ...
